Jake --Panini and his Italian contemporaries, particularly Canaletto, spent a great deal of time in England, and created works with neo-classical scenes, that were enormously popular with the wealthy British aristocracy! If The Duke of Marlborough didn't own a Canaletto, a Panini, a Piranesi, he must have owned "something" painted by a vaunted member of the neo-classical 'school!' Those masterpieces are spectacular in use of detail, color, and, most important of all, imagination!
