THE PRIDE OF PASADENA
Jackie Robinson is a product of the Pasadena school system. I am proud to say I attended many of the same schools. He returned to the campus of George Washington Junior High School around the same time the Beatles invaded America, in mid-February of 1964. Longtime residents of Pasadena remember Jackie as a major celebrity because of his athletic accomplishments at UCLA. He lettered in football, baseball and track. In a perfect world, he would have been in the big leagues much sooner.
But few famous people can also be described as important people. Jackie Robinson is one of the few.
