IMHO truly one of the greatest actor.
John Wayne is what most people think of when they think of cowboy movie stars. His enduring worldwide popularity, even long after his death, personifies to nations all over the world the American Cowboy hero--and he is one of the few cowboys to ever win an Academy Award (in 1969 for True Grit).
