DVD Player Question..

When playing Audio CD's on my DVD player (its a home theatre so we use that with surround sound in place of a stereo) I have to have the T.V set to that particular channel thing to listen to the music, I would like to know whether it is possible to still listen to Audio Cd's on the DVD player without actually having the TV on?
Any idea's/help would be appreciated..

Dear Friend Andrew.

Dear Friend Andrew.

To just hear a cd without leaving the television on, connect the the audio cables output, from the dvd player, to you amplifier. Leave only the video output cable to your television set. Doing like that, you have the option to only hear a song or watch it if it is a dvd. One tip: Turn always off the sorround effect of your amplifier when you hear a stereo cd. In that case, instead of enchancing, the sorround effect only mess up the stereo "image" how it was meant to be heard by the recording engineer. I hope to have helped you, my Friend. Any more questions, feel free to ask.

Dear Friend Andrew.

Dear Friend Andrew.

Everything will be allright. The only difference is that you will need to turn on your amplefier all the time you want to hear a cd if you was hearing before by the television. Another tip: It is a bit expensive but it's really worth. If your dvd palyer have a optic-fiber output for the sound and your amplifier have an input for the optical fiber, don't think twice to buy it. Acoustic Research and Monster Cable have very good ones. The adavantage is that the sound will be much better than the usual RCA connectors and you can have six channels for audio with only one cable. IMPORTANT : Don't forget to remove the plastic protector on the point of the end of the optical fiber when you are going to connect. Once I forgot and spent hours trying to resolve that endless enigma. Good luck, my Friend !

dvd player not sure of yourself

Hi Andrew
What gerald told you is ok
but if your unsure of yourself,I'm the same way at times
go back to the people who you bought the system from
they should be able to show you step by step
I had a similar problem
my tv is an older model and the new electronic players have a different connectors
so needed to buy a RF modulator, now I can run everything separate no problems, but I don't have surround sound
which has more components to hook up
good Luck
regards
Frank
