Kent, a beach in East Tennessee? (combining your location with your signature line)
When you beach it, where do you go? Myrtle?

We're Gulf people - Cape San Blas. Go to Panama City and hang a left on 98 for an hour or so. One restaurant, & gas station, no jet skis, Para Sails, planes pulling banners for all you can eat fish dinners. Pet friendly beaches. Been going for years but some deadlines and the oil leak, well. It takes just as long to go there as it does to hit the East Coast from Chatt driving. Here is Moses and Lucy.

You know how in old Looney Tunes cartoons, sometimes a character would be walking through the desert, and they'd have cacti growing on their tongue and vultures circling overhead?

That's how I feel right now. Way, way too warm for comfort.

We got hit by a tornado yesterday at 3pm ripping rooves of or 5 neighbors houses. We lost 5 large trees and just got our power back. It looks like a bomb went off. I've been in the yard all day with clean up. Our deck furniture flew off the deck and slammed into my car causing $3,300 in damage. What a mess.

Sorry to hear that Rick.

Sounds a lot like my area after Ike, except our power was off a lot longer.

Ours came back within 3 days.

It's amazing how many friends you suddenly have when you have electrons!

Great memory, Nancy. That was a super cell storm that blew through in June of 2006 with similar results although this storm was far worse. This time, my deck furniture attacked my new GMC Denali. 4years ago it was my then new Buick Lucerne now being shared by my sons.

Glad you're ok Rick. Ally and I were in Auburn Alabama this weekend on one of the lakes and the late afternoon thunderstorms caught us out on the boat. The lightning was crazy. There were some pretty powerful downdrafts and trees down as we made our way back to shore. When we got to our dock... nothing. Looked like it didn't even rain.

Gosh Rick, I am so sorry to hear this. That was a lot of damage. Thank God you all are okay, though.

Here, it's been HOT, HOT, HOT!!!! We broke two records this week, reaching 100 degrees. It looks like the same for today. However, tomorrow it is supposed to cool off, and the rest of the week sounds great.
The temperatues are supposed to stay in the low 80s. I'm glad, because I'll we away for a long weekend, and wouldn't like to spend it indoors with air conditioning.

So sorry Rick. What a mess.

The weather here in NY, is much too hot. At the graduation party Saturday, they held it ouside, and I broke out in a heat rash. First I thought I had gotten bitten, but no, it's a heat rash. I'm staying in today as much as possible. Can't wait for the summer to go away.

Rick, I'm sorry to hear about your storm damage.
We had a powerful storm blow through late Friday afternoon at the Hospital where I work. It wreaked havoc on our computer systems.
Right now, it is dry and hot here in Augusta, GA.

It's very hot here today, with predicted severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Typical summer day. Made a big pitcher of iced-tea and put it in the fridge. We don't have A/C so have to keep cool however we can. I like to swim before bed and put my fan on and that does the trick.

It was up to 89, I believe, for this day. Now, we're getting a much needed shower.

I just hope the humidity stays at a decent level for the next week, but you never know.

This humidity drains you whether you sit in the sun or the shade. I haven't put my air conditioner in the smallest room yet (make a little ice box easy to cool fast at low cost) Central air is expensive and wasteful.

Thus far, though, I've been getting by at home with just a fan. Can't sleep without it. Although, last night with the full moon and the balminess in the wee small hours, I didn't want to come inside and go to bed.
