Deadly tornadoes and thunderstorms tore through the South Wednesday, killing more than 170 people in five states and giving neighboring states a possible taste of what's to come today, authorities said.

At least 178 deaths are being blamed on severe weather that has hit the region in the past several days.

The majority of the deaths have been reported in Alabama with 128 people killed, including 32 in the city of Tuscaloosa alone.

Death toll has climbed to 194 from this mile-wide tornado. What a horrific tragedy.

It certainly is, and it could have been much worse. According to Good Morning America this morning, the huge deadly tornado just barely missed the University of Alabama. We have a local young lady who is a student there. She was interviewed this morning by phone. She and her friends hid in a closet in their sorority house. They're o.k., but they have no power.

Severe thunder...heavy rain...northeast is getting pelted. Jersey counties and Catskill mountains effected. flooding...nearly one million people without power in the southeast.

We are in the midst of this unstable weather...

Thank you, Nancy!

Atlanta was spared this time. Just a big thunderstorm here, but I did feel safer down in the basement because I didn't have to watch the trees swaying from my bedroom windows and couldn't hear the wind and thunder as much. I had TV and my laptop. This was the first time I've gone down there during a storm, but from here on out, I'm going to do it every time we get severe weather.

Today the sun is out, but on the cool side. Looks like
the weekend will be nice, after a terrible week.

Not the greatest weather for the kickoff of the 2011 Senior Softball season. Cool & breezy - in the mid 50s - but it felt great to get out on the field, and hit the ball around. Each team played a couple of innings. I played a few more, since I'm one of the younger guys, and not all of the teams had their 11 players. Everything really begins on Monday at 4:30. Naturally, rain is expected!

Well we got one good day out of the weekend.
Saturday was perfect, but today (Sunday)
started sunny, and now it is cloudy and I think
I heard that rain is expected later.

It's been a sunny day here in East Yorkshire, but there has been a chilly wind blowing from the North Sea.

Windy and hot earlier today. It has cooled down considerably. We are supposed to have temperatures in the low 50's- high 40's the next few evenings and a chance of thunderstorms.

Still windy - reports are saying there will be a hose pipe ban this year, driest April since records began.

Also heard if we have a good April, you can almost guarantee rubbish weather for July and August.

March winds in April, April showers in May, sounds about right.
