I've been able to resurrect even more past opening pages. Keep your eye on post #1, as we travel back in the Sinatra time machine...

Bob, thanks so much. I am so proud of my late Mother, and it is truly an honor that she could be a part of an opening page. And now, thanks to your link, I can share it with others in days to come.

Bob -

A terrific idea. And I know I missed a couple though I don't know why. (Well, I sometimes forget to check in there.)

Many thanks.

Rick: I only started saving these for myself beginning with the Mother's Day page this year. All of the others were "lucky" finds from public Internet archives—lucky because I found them, and lucky because all of the requisite files are unmoved on the server. (I didn't want to bother Robert or Nancy with any of this. )

If the flash files are still on the server, and Robert can tell me the name of the entry HTML file (IF it still exists), then the video can be restored. Ditto for any other blasts from the past. I know there were many other beautful animations besides the ones I've linked above.

Music

Can anyone identify the music being played behind Veterans Day '03 and Mother's Day '05 ?

[ Delayed Edit: No one responded, but I finally figured these out. The Veterans Day '03 music is the "Closing Credits" from the original motion picture soundtrack album for Glory (James Horner). The Mother's Day '05 music is, of course, Debussy's "Claire de Lune" arranged for two guitars; it's played by Julian Bream and John Williams from the CD, Guitar Dreams: Classics for a New Age. ]

Also, who sings the song "Last Odd Day" on A.J.'s Birthday '04, and the chorus behind the Navy Hymn ("Eternal Father") on Memorial Day '07 ?

[ Delayed Edit: I found the answer about the first song at Happy Birthday A. J. (post #7). ]

[Added:] Still looking for the source of the Navy Hymn...

A piece of history

Here's one more rare item, which once graced the opening page:

Name: Sinatra Family Album Feb-18-1999.gif
Views: 350
Size: 23.1 KB

(From February 18, 1999—before this site was even a "forum.")

Bob -

What a sweetheart you are! Anyone on the 'outside,' viewing these Opening Pages, would know immediately that the Sinatra Family Forum certainly must be the best in the business.

I've been here since the beginning, July 7, 2001, but I can see I'm going to be spending some time recollecting all of these Opening Pages. I just looked at Veterans Day '03 and it was nothing short of spectacular, very, very moving. (No, I don't know the music.)

What an absolute marvel you are.

Joan

Thank you, Joan, and everyone else who commented. These bring back memories, don't they?

BTW, if anyone clicked on Father's Day '05 and received an error message, try again. (There was a typo in my post.) This was one of my favorites; see here: “It’s For My Dad”.

[Added:] There were a couple of other broken links, which I've just fixed.

Independence Day '07

New entry added in lead post for the Independence Day '07 opening page.

Music is "This Is A Great Country" by Bing Crosby with Fred Waring and The Pennsylvanians from the 1964 Reprise album, America, I Hear You Singing.

A Happy Fourth of July to all!
