Underappreciated Standards

Can you think of a few classics and standards from the Great American Songbook, that perhaps are not remembered as well as "It had to be you" or "As Time Goes By"?

Sometimes it seems that people get caught up in just a few of the many many great standards from years past.

A few "underappreciated" songs that come to mind are:

Lazy Afternoon
The Windmill's of Your Mind
September Song
This Guy's in Love with you

These are just a few. And by underappreciated, I mean just as good as the rest, but get less recognition and or airplay these days.
What do you guys think?

I just heard a really nice rendition of Night and Day by Les Elgard's smooth orchestra.
(they're the band that did the Bandstand Boogie, theme of American Bandstand,
the show Dick Clark took national, but did not originally host for four years)

Unforgetable standards...

1. Our love is here to stay.
2. Give me the simple life.
3. Summertime.
4. Lulu's back in Town.
( I could go on )

Give me the Simple Life.

This tune really qualifies as to what James is looking for.
My initial response Night and Day does not, as it's been done to death.
(I was just "jump-starting" this thread)

I agree John, Give me the Simple Life is right on the money as far as underappreciated songs are concerned.

I like Steve Tyrell's version from a few years back.

Give me the simple life

It's my harmonica signature tune. ( On my CD in fact.)
Those lyrics are timeless. Who doesn't want a simple life?.
The tune is a simple and is a great tune also. ( All great tunes are simple in their construction I think)

Windmills Of Your Mind was written by a Frenchman...

okay G Man, to stave off the Wrath Of Joan (by the way Ricardo was great in that, and did Joan so well too, all those Melville references, boss) I will concede that the Bergmanns did put English words to the ditty.

Thanks for that much, at least, Martin. Savatri, just bite him on one leg.

Better watch it, Georgie. I'll bite you on both legs. Marty is a favorite of mine now; he forgives.

How do I get drawn into a thread that I have not even participated in?

'The Wrath of Joan' - I like that Marty. That'll be the title for my next true story.
