For everyday driving, I drive a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix. It's a great car...very comfortable and kind of sporty looking.

For cruising, I have a 1972 Corvette Sting Ray. It's a green convertible with a white top. It has a very thin gold pinstripe on the side and gold wheels. It's sharp!

Every August, here in Michigan, we have the "Woodward Dream Cruise". Thousands of people drive their classic cars up and down Woodward Ave. through 6 or 7 cities. It's the biggest one-day classic car show in the world. I can't wait!

I'm a big classic car fan. Love GTO's!

I Love this Thread!

Just Frank, Thanks for a cool thread...I agree with Kathy about your picture

I drive a dark gray 1986 Cadillac Cimarron (it's basically a Chevrolet Cavalier with leather)but I love IT!
I found it two years ago backed up next to a building, snow covered and with two flat tires.
I got it for $550.00! It still looks nice and runs great! It has only depreciated $200.00 in two years! What a deal!(I have 'The Main Event' 1974 from Madison Square Garden cassette in the tape deck right now!)

It's my tenth old Caddy (this one gets the best milage of all of the prehistoric monsters I drove before!
The most I ever paid for a car was $1,200.00...and that yellow 1973 Sedan De Ville was 6 years old at the time...and I drove it 5 years!

Ah, but everyone always remembers their FIRST!
My first car was a 1963 Cadillac Coupe De Ville..
dark blue with a white and black leather interior...a fabulous car in it's day...by it's 13th year (when I aquired it for $200.00... it would be fair to say that it's best days were behind it!)

My step dad (Mac) bought his first new Cadillac in 1951 and his last new Cadillac in 1978(he died in 1982, just before trade in time!

When I win the lottery I will get a new Cadillac!!!

I drive a 2001 blue Kia Rio. It wasn't my choice, but it gets me where I need to go. :p It's the first new car I've ever owned.

My first car was a 1988 Plymouth Horizon. Second car, a Hyundai (piece of crap), and the third car was a Caprice Classic. That one was on it's last leg when I bought it. It all worked out though. The day it broke down, I got a letter in the mail saying that my license was suspended!

piece oof crap

Hi Dana, I see you also had the Hyundai expierence. Short story. When I traded in my car it was smoking so bad we had to leave it in a parking lot to cool off, then preceded to trade it in. Later the dealer told us there was a problem that took $500.00 to fix, but the car was so clean they sold it right away.

What do you drive?

Ever since I heard FAS sing

"I LIKE A NEW LINCOLN, WITH ALL OF ITS' CLASS",

I have wanted one so a year ago
I traded in my '91 Olds Silhouette
on a beautiful 1996 Lincoln Town Car...It ain't new and it's expensive to maintain, so I spend most of my time admiring it (all white with a grey carriage top)
when it's in the garage..Sometimes, I even hug it and call it sweetheart.. I'm such
an incurable romantic I even love my car... I had it equipped with an ALPINE 12 disc stereo system loaded with SINATRA and I even tell myself he loves to sing in my car......

Oh, EL ED your car sounds like one AL BUNDY would love to have....

Transportaion

It’s only transportation.

Having raised eight kids I have a different agenda on financial needs. I currently own three vehicles:

1996 – Plymouth Voyager – 140,000 rough miles

1994 – Ford Tempo – 136,000 miles, as I sit here I am waiting for AAA to tow it to the house.

1992 – Ford 120,000

All three are not worth $4,000 combined

In fantasy or reality?

In fantasy, a turqouise Jag XJS convertible.

In reality, a beige pearl '88 Corolla with 240,000 miles on it that I bought in Berkeley, drove to L.A., then to Jacksonville, then up here. I've put 80,000 on it since 1998 when it had 160,000.

Hey Ed - '59 De Soto! Cool.

Corey (JustFrank) - <<you can tell a lot about a person...>> - sometimes. But that's if their car is the closest thing to their heart. I've never owned a convertible, but rented plenty - maybe in that sense you can tell about me by "what I drive".

But a lot of people go for what's practical in terms of what they own and pay insurance on. I love old cars, but I'll bet Ed's insurer on the De Soto only gives him a limited annual mileage allowance for coverage.

A 1997 Ford Thunderbird Limited Edition

I drive a 1997 Ford Thunderbird Limited Edition with a 4.6L V8, and you can see more pics and read info at my page for it at:

http://www.geocities.com/tbirddmnd/tbird1.html

I also belong to the Thunderbirds and Cougars Club of America, and they have a website at http://www.tccoa.com if you want to take a look. I have modified it a little and have more plans to get more horsepower out of it, and I may even want to add some Xenon ground effects to it. I'm wanting to replace the stock wheels with 1995 Mustang Cobra "R" 17-inch wheels and tires. As it is it has a lot of power and pulls great on the freeway. Although my speedometer reaches 120 I haven't "pinned" it yet due to the "rev limiter" placed in by Ford engineers that stops acceleration at 108 mph. This is because of the driveshaft being 2 pieces instead of one; at high speed (over 120 mph sustained) it can snap and make for a very bad day. Other "MN-12" enthusiasts have purchased a new computer chip and also an aluminum one-piece driveshaft for a Lincoln Mark VIII that can do away with the rev-limiter and provide smoother shifting for the transmission, which is what I plan to do as well. Flowmaster 2-chamber mufflers and a "cat-back" system is my next project for it to give it that nice "Mustang-rumble". This 1997 Thunderbird replaces my 1988 Thunderbird which was also maroon. The "MN-12" mentioned above refers to the Ford coding for the Thunderbirds and Mercury Cougars produced from 1989 to 1997.

That's a nice car! We used to own a 1987 T-bird turbo coupe with a 5-speed manual transmission. It was medium grey with Scarlet Red leather interior. My husband drove about 75 miles a day to and from work for 11 years. Then we finally had to get rid of it. I'd really love to have the 2002 T-bird, but I don't see that happening any time soon.

Lincoln Town Car

Everytime i've been to U.S. i like to contemplate a very beautiful car that you have - the Lincoln Town Car.
Unfortunately i heard that 2002 it is his last year of production. Is it true?

Camel's query

Camel, I believe the car you are making reference to is a 1980 'FS Chrysler Imperial'. I was at the gate of the final inspection plant (with thousands of others) when Frank came to take posession of the first FS Imperial to roll off the assembly line.

I have included a pic of the car which was presented to Frank that day.
