Gregor Fisher that's it! He is great, I think he and Bill Nighy were the reason to see "Love Actually", they stole the show! Yes he was the baldy man in the Hamlet ads, gosh that brings back memories!

Greif I remember Tiswas, wasn't Keth Chegwin in that Along with Sally someone and Chris Tarrant? That was a crazy show!

I loved Robin Hood with Tony Robinson, and when my kids were little, Rik Mayall did some hilarious episodes of "Jackanory"!

What a shame, I wonder why? Perhaps he gets fed up with it but it bought him alot of affection from the public and quite a nice lot of money too I would imagine! I suppose it wants to leave it all in the past. I miss Spit the Dog! Much better than that Emu! Did you ever see Rod Hull and Emu with Michael Parkinson

Now that was a funny TV moment Karyn! One of the few times Parky was flustered. I would love to see that again.

Sally James I believe, she was quite a pin-up for us young boys at the time.

Never quite found the appeal of Rik Mayall to be honest.

Keith was on the Beebs rather reserved opposition to Tiswas "Swap Shop", Usual suspects on Tiswas were indeed Tarrant, Sally James, Lenny Henry & John Gorman "Compost Corner" (another name drop here, I attended primary school with one of John's daughters) John used to be a member of Scaffold with Roger McGough and Paul McCartney's brother Mike. They all went on to make the illegitimate zoo TV offspring of Tiswas "OTT" joined by another scouser Alexei Sayle, OTT was a flop however as it was too far ahead of it's time.

Parky got more than flustered he was extremely pissed off over that whole event, so much at the time, this was a guy who'd interviewed so many icons of the 20th Century, but he was sick of being remembered for quote "that bloody bird"

I once met Bob Carolgees. I was talking to his wife, who's much younger than him, and very sexy. Anyway, Bob came over and started telling me how to tell a joke. So, I told him he wasn't as funny as his wife. I don't think he was expecting me to say that, but I did. She had a good old giggle about it.

Little Britain is a great comedy on BBC Three. It takes a sideways look at British life. Great narration by Tom Baker, He's sooo dry. One great scene is where we see a judge lounging on the steps of the Old Bailey, in his wig and gown, smoking pot and watching the girls go by. Tom's narration goes: "The British legal system is the best and most admired in the world. Anyone who says otherwise is a gay" Last night they showed a programme about real-life people who were like the characters in that programme, including a Vikki Pollard type teenager.

Here is one of the characters, He sees himself as "The only gay in the village". Anyone who is remotely gay who shows themselves in his village is challenged by him as to their 'gay' credentials and he defends his patch vigorously.

I don't think it could be Adam, because Adam doesn't have a pot belly.

Who actually thought Ant & Dec would make good TV
To think where they are now is fantastic since their beginning in Byker Grove a few years ago. Can anyone remember Speedy from Byker Grove. I know him quite well. He runs his own internet company and also runs a Football Betoff site which I take part in. Check it out Marty and Adam (and anyone else for that matter)
www.europredictions.com.
Anyway, getting back to Ant & Dec, my wife went to see them in concert when they were PJ and Duncan and loved em.
My fav programme when I was young has got to be Mr Ben.
Just fab!!!

How... Loved that, Fred Dineage (who had a lunchtime game show called GAMBIT which came on just after Rainbow and just before the everlasting Aussie soap The Sullivans) and did it also have that old fellah Jack Hargreaves (Out Of Town) on it? I always wished to hear them say "....and that's how you extort 50 quid from your parents" but they never did.

Mary Mungo & Midge... proving what fun could be had in a tower block lift.

Mr Benn... I still check whether there are secret doors behind changing room mirrors, alas i've yet to find a cowboy or spaceman adventure in the stock rooms at Top Man.

Charlie Says... up there alongside Rolf Harris & The Tufty Club when it comes to telling kids all about safety.

Surprise. I've not heard of 99.89% of these shows, but it is fun to hear of all the fun they have given you, over the years.

A while ago, I caught Parky and Richard E. Grant on the Kumars. Can't figure out the granny. Most of them all seem to be pretty regular, but she is WAY out there. Nevertheless, she made me laugh, as did the show.

(Sorry Ace. I didn't care for Benny Hill. As an adult, maybe I'd view him differently)

Leanne, that picture is just....scary. I'll have to watch, since it is on BBC America.

Absolutely Fabulous is an absolute scream, and Father Ted is irreverently hilarious.

Craggy Island Heroes

Patti, Father Ted has to be the most under-rated comedy show ever, a few of my favourite scenes:-

Father Dougal: Can I stay up tonight to watch the scary film, Ted?

Father Ted: Ah, no no no. The last time you stayed up to watch a scary film you ended up having to sleep in my bed. I wouldn't mind, but it wasn't even a scary film.

Father Dougal: Come on, Ted. A Volkswagen with a mind of its own. If that isn't scary, I don't know what is.

then there's

Father Dougal: God, I've heard about those cults Ted. People dressing up in black and saying Our Lord's going to come back and save us all.

Father Ted: No, Dougal, that's us. That's Catholicism.

Father Dougal: Oh right.

or

Mrs Doyle: Oh she writes such filth, Father. It's always "Feck this" and "Feck that" - and sometimes she even uses the "F" word!

and of course my own personal hero Father Jack

Arse Biscuits !!!

I lived in Europe when I was younger and was able to watch several British programs.
I loved "Please Sir" with John Alderton-- he played a kind but hapless teacher to a group of unruly kids.

"Doubledeckers" - a show about seven kids who used an abandoned double decker bus as their clubhouse. A young Peter Firth was one of the kids.

"On the Buses" with Reg Varney. He played a bus driver-- always getting into some scrape or another-- alot of double entendres and adult humor but I loved it.

I also got hooked on "Coronation Street"-- that old Sharples woman killed me-- she was a hoot!

Little Britain - I love the slimming club, Vicky (don't we all know a few like her and the rapid fire delivery of her speech is hilarious) and The Only Gay in the Village - hilarious!

Father Ted - superb, I just love all the characters, Pauline McGlyn who plays Mrs Doyle is quite an attractive girl in real life with a killer sense of humour! Definitely very under-rated.

Anyone remember "Yes Prime Minister" and "The Good Life"?

Patti - the granny on the Kumars is played by a young woman called Meera Syal! You wouldn't recognise her without her "granny" ensemble on!

Never got into Benny Hill or Carry On films, but they have their place in British comedy history undoubtedly, although I did like Benny Hill's song "Ernie - He Drove the Fastest Milk Cart in the West" when I was younger

Fancy me getting Lenny Henry mixed up with Keith Chegwin

Also, another chat show moment, Russell Harty with Grace Jones, when she gave him a thump!

Hi Karyn

Hi Karyn

Rod Hull used to live just down the road from me and I got to know him a bit.
He fell off the roof of his house trying to adjust the TV aerial
and died.
Terrible really.
His son found him lying there.
One night in the " Queens Head inn" Icklesham, I duetted
with him on harmonica.
He played the Trombone in an ooompah band!
VERY BADLY
But it was a hoot.
( The Beatles used to use that pub a lot)
Memories....
Barry.
