not far from Rio
Paolo,
So you are near Rio! You enlightened me on what Brazil is like. And I had no idea there were so many Italians there! I'm glad the living is nice and that you are ok there. So you are going back to very beautiful Napoli in September? Paolo, may I ask if you are moving back or just visiting? Take care. Like Frank says, "we'll meet again." As usual, it will probably be at the "bat hour."

My kind of town, Napoli is...
Paolo,
That is great that you will be going home to very beautiful Napoli. As Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz, "there's no place like home, there's no place like home." It's something to look forward to, Paolo!! And even though you will be going back to beautiful Napoli, you will still stay in your second home, which is this wonderful forum!! And as Frank says, Paolo, you will be "on the sunny side of the street!!" P.S. My internet service (AOL) keeps saying "you've got mail." All notes from you!! Like a great pianist, your fingers are flying over the keyboard!

no diamonds and no Rolls Royce
Paolo,
Liberace was one of a kind with his furs and all of his cars and his diamonds, etc., etc., etc. I don't think there will be another Liberace. And Frank was Frank, as we know. There will never be another Frank. And I guess, Paolo is probably Paolo. I'm sure you are a great pianist, Paolo, without all of the diamonds and the candelabra!!

Hi Carolina!
Well, some say the "Diamonds are a girl's best friends", so there are only the candelabros left........///// Reminds me the film "Rome Adventure", {with Suzanna Pleshette and the late Troy Donahue}, ... the song "Al di Là" {mogol and Donida}... a classic one at San Remo's Festival, in the earlies 60's...... Paolo.

yes, diamonds are a girl's best friend
Paolo,
You are right! Diamonds are a girl's best friend. Well, actually, I don't know about that, but girls do enjoy diamonds! Now that you mention the movie Rome Adventure, I have that one too. One of these days very soon, when I get a chance I will watch it! I'm sure it must be nice. I will get to see how beautiful Rome is! But I'm sure it is more beautiful if you are actually there. Paolo, I am going to say "buona notte" to you. I go to work tomorrow, so it is time for me to retire. Have a very nice day tomorrow. Enjoy your work with the dentistry and giving people very beautiful smiles!!

that's italian
hi paolo, i'm just very glad sinatra didn't sing to many italian songs, i would've had trouble understanding him. not like dean martin, frank wasn't fluid in italian. i find that a little odd, both my parents are first generation italian- americans like sinatra and they both understood and spoke italian. in my case i'm sorry to say that with only high school italian i have a limited capacity in the language. society and italian-americans seem to have been in some kind of hurry, sadly, to make good americans out of us all, and much of our culture has been forgotten by second and third generation italian-americans. "that'sa progress".

Hello paljoey1957!!!!
Hi! Nice to meet you again...... Well, about Frank's fluency in Italian Language, I cannot assure you about that. I remember "Come Back to Sorrento" (vinil) , when he performs some songs in italian ( with a little bit of south Italian accent). The only thing , perhaps, is to ask about his relatives about that. I guess he could understand well , but sometimes , maybe, I don't know, talk fluent in Italian, mainly in dialetto. "Come Back to Sorrento", a marvelous vinil. Ciao, see you later..... Paolo.

In dialetto
Paolo,
I'm sure Frank sings wonderfully in italiano! I just recently bought the lp of "Come Back to Sorrento." I will listen and let you know what I think. Frank does some Italian in the Complete Reprise Studio Collection. He sings Domani. And he also says "it'sa no disgrace."

I agree with you, Carolina......
....however, singing some melodies in italian is one thing, and talk fluently is another. Well , the best answer , I guess, would have to be done by any of his relatives,// ...well, I can't assure you about Frankie talking in italian, really. ////My opinion: Frank Sinatra, talking and singing in any language is fabulous!!!!! Baci, Bat-Paolo.

messagio da Carolina
Paolo,
Bacci per te!! You're exactly right. Frank is wonderful no matter what language he sings in. Whether it's Italian or Russian or Japanese or Brazilian Portugese (Frank wasn't fluent in all of those), Frank would speak and sing beautifully!! P.S. Have you heard Frank sing Stromboli? That's partly in italiano!! A nice song!! Carolina

Ciao Carolina!
Remember when Frankie performed in Japan? When he said "Kombawa"(buona sera), it's like in English or any other language. The way he express the words is really fascinating indeed. A presto, Paolo.

Frank's way with words
Paolo,
Yes, I know Frankie performed in Japan! Frank had a special way with words and expressed them with great warmth. He created magic, don't you think? He captivated audiences wherever he went!!
