LOS ANGELES -- Mort Lindsey, a conductor, arranger and composer best known as the music director for Judy Garland in the 1960s and for his more than two decades as music director for "The Merv Griffin Show," has died. He was 89.

This is very sad news. I'm honored to say that I got to play golf many times with Duck when I was a kid. He had some great stories and played on many, many legendary tracks. He had the original STAX playback speakers in his house. They still sounded great!
