Doing a project on Sinatra

Hey,
I am doing a project in school on Frank Sinatra and would like to know what is a good biography on Frank Sinatra's life. Also what would you say are the 5 defining moments in Sinatra's life that has led up to his becoming a musician? Thanks a bunch.

Hi

You can read Nancy's books: Frank Sinatra, my father and Frank Sinatra - An American Legend, where you'll find everything about Frank.

Nancy's "Frank Sinatra, an American Legend" captures the facts.

But you must pick up "The Way you Wear Your Hat" by Bill Zehme to add color and nice vignettes to your story.

Also, the one defining moment in his life leading him to become a singer was seing Bing Crosby in conecert with future wife Nancy.

[TEMPORARILY DELETED]

Bernhard.

PS: Please tell your name, that would make it much easier to properly address you. Good luck with your project.

ADDED: I've re-posted my original message below. The misunderstandings were cleared up once Jeff had completed his profile. BV.

PS to my long ramble above** (but just to be sure):

Yes, Frank Sinatra is my favourite performer. I never was more sure about that than today. He'll make it to 21st century as well, calmly but steadily entering all young-at-hearts.

As the song says (well, almost)....

Just let the music play, as long as there's a song to sing...
and we will be younger than spring.

Bernhard.

**ADDED: I was referring to my previous long (perhaps even lengthy?) posting, which you now find later in this thread. BV.

Wow, thanks so much for ur input. I actually was looking for someone to do this project on and then i heard a frank sinatra song on my friend's cd player and decided that it would be cool to do it on him. I actually know really little about him and i have been listening to some of his songs which i enjoy so i think it should be pretty fun to do. But do you guys know where you could get video clips online somewhere like in an archive, cause i don't have the money to go and buy a bunch of videos when i just need a few clips here and there.

I don't think you need Video clips essentially for a thesis about Sinatra. You could play some of the recordings in question from the periods you want to tackle. And please, as a simple matter of politeness to those who have responded here to your question, give your name. ("Nah" certainly isn't it).

Bernhard.

<< What e-mail? What was wrong with my posting? >>

Absolutely nothing. It was beautiful!

However, unless our young friend respects this site, none of us should do him any favors. Did you see his profile? Maybe you ought to take a look at it.

Please, Bernhard. Help me keep order here by insisting that people say who they are in their profiles.

Thank you.

Hi Jeff. You chose a good topic for your paper. There is definitely a lot of information out there. I'm not sure what type of visuals you are loking for, but I have two pretty inexpensive options for you...

One is the library. Frank's films are available at most (you may have to ask your librarian to order a few for you from other branches), and there is usually a documentary or two available.

If you can spend a little money (hey, we were all students once), you may want to invest the $20 or $25 in the Ultimate Rat Pack Collection that was released last year. It comes with a live DVD of the Rat Pack from 1965.

We can narrow down the books for you, but don't start asking which are the best films or albums because you will get a response from just about everyone, and we will list off everything available under the sun!!

Good luck on your paper, and welcome to the wonderful world of Frank Sinatra. It's a great place to live.
