Ernest Borgnine on The O'Reilly Factor Tonight

Bill O'Reilly interviewed Ernest Borgnine tonight on the Factor, and began the interview talking about Frank Sinatra and the pair's performance in From Here To Eternity....

A notable quote (not news to any of us, but still nice)....

O'Reilly: He (FS) had a reputation for being a tough guy.

Borgnine: Oh yes.

O'Reilly: Was he?

Borgnine: No. Not at all. He was the sweetest man in the world.

They showed a few clips from the movie and went on to talk about other actors Borgnine has worked with. He is 94 years old and looked great for his age! Just thought I would share.

Have a great weekend everyone,
David

Thanks for the link Robert. It was a great interview. How can anyone look so young at 94?

In his autobiography, Mr. Borgnine says that some people had trouble separating fact from fiction. He was once threatened with getting beaten up when some toughs realized that he was the guy who "killed" Frank Sinatra in the movie. Also, Mr. Borgnine had a small role as a security vault safekeeper in the 2010 action film "Red."

O Reilly

In an interview some years ago O Reilly described Sinatra as a friend of gangsters.
O Reilly is a creep of the lowest order!

He doesn't know how to read, I guess. Ignorance is no excuse, right?

I think it's great that he's still out there working and in pretty good health. But when O'Reilly talks about him working with "titans", they were his peers and friends.

I have no opinion on Bill O'Reilly. He makes a good living at what he does and has his fans. When he's on Letterman, he gets abused and the crowd goes wild. He's an entertainer when it comes down to it.

I don't know, Dan... If Bill supports rumors that Frank was idle enough to be operating with gangsters, then I have a problem with that. Maybe his interview with Ernest Borgnine was an effort to recant such loose excressance.

Thanks, David, for sharing this. It's blowing my mind that if you were born in 1920, you're over 90. Ernest was in 1917 like Dean or Dinah. It's like watching the river rise. I still think of those people as being in their early 50s.

I have a hard time thinking of Frank Sinatra and my own grandmother, who were both born in December 1915, as being 95 if they were still with us! For years in our family we joked that we could always remember how old she was by Sinatra's birthday specials on tv.

As for O'Reilly, I have watched him off and on for years, not always agreed with his stance on things, but got the impression he was a decent guy. I didn't know there was a history of him making derogatory comments about Frank Sinatra. I tried a Google search and found nothing....except he lists Frank as one of his favorite artists on his own website.

Thanks for the link, Robert. Mr. O is just another talking head in a sea of pundits or lettuce, your choice. Say, didn't Mr Borgnine play side kick in one of those '70 or '80's chopper tv dramas...Blue Thunder or TurboChop or, can I get a witness, anyone??

You are correct on both counts Amy. Any chopper taking down the bad guys is a good hello. On the BO comment, you will excuse the expression, judging by Nancy's chortle, she agrees!

If a certain CNN anchor's situation room was a whirly bird, would he be AirWolf Blitzer??
