- If you can spot any mistake or add any information to the above, you are most welcome!

Thanks Bob, I definitely will. And if it doubles it, I'll ask for this thread to be removed!
(I find it so hard to use this forum's search engine. Am I the only one? I can't seem to find anything I want... doesn't take boolean expressions, considers many words as too common, etc.)

I don't have time to study your list now, but it appears to duplicate mine except for a couple of "promo" and/or non-commercial releases. I believe my A/B side designations to be accurate. Also, note that the last five records on the list used descending numerical order for their catalog nos.

As for the search engine, searching for "Reprise singles" in titles would have found it quite easily.

After a quick look, I've found the answer to a couple of my questions. However, regardless of the famous no-no release, I have found two singles that do not seem to be in your list:
- 20,157 (or 20,257?): California / America The Beautiful
- 0713: It Was A Very Good Year / Stay With Me (Main Theme From 'The Cardinal') [a reissue for the latter song]
Also the single 7-19355 that has "The Last Dance" on the B-side is not there, but did it exist at all?
Thanks, Bob.

20128 - "B" side is SAM'S SONG, Sammy Davis/Dean Martin

0317 - "A" side is WE WISH YOU THE MERRIEST

1364 - "B" side is THE BEST I EVER HAD

19355 - "A" side is FLY ME TO THE MOON (a CD era single, issued for either The Very Good Years compilation or The Reprise Years set - I forget which)

There are promo issues of 20151 with COME BLOW YOUR HORN as the "B" side. Supposedly at least 1 stock/commercial copy exists as well.

I have no idea why I Remember Tommy had issue on "regular" 7" singles. There were stereo 7" 33 1/3 singles of other albums, but they were intended for stereo jukeboxes, and in this early Reprise era those were in the 40XXX series (not 20XXX).

My GOLDMINE guide has 20026 listed as THERE ARE SUCH THINGS/POLKADOTS AND MOONBEAMS, and 20028 as TAKE ME/DAYBREAK. I do not have these records to confirm.

The same guide notes 20107 originally released as THE LOOK OF LOVE/I LEFT MY HEART IN SAN FRANCISCO, and later issued with INDISCREET replacing SAN FRANCISCO. I have a promo copy with SAN FRANCISCO.

I imagine 20157 is correct instead of 20257, IF the sequence of the recordings matches up with sequence of release. My guide notes it as 20157. FUGUE FOR TINHORNS is 20217, recorded after these...

0677 are reduxes of each song, with an overdubbed guitar. Kinda strange...

My GOLDMINE guide notes the existance of #0053, I'LL BE SEEING YOU/WITHOUT A SONG as released in 1962, with the following notes :

Released in Great Britain as 20,053; pressed in the United States later

Can someone confirm?

The correct no. is 20,157. This was not a commercial issue. See here: The Concert Sinatra (post #136) and Ron's reply (post #137).

There is an entry for this in one database, but it's missing from two other reliable sources of mine. It would have been a reissue for both songs. Further confirmation needed?

Yes, it was a later-day issue (as Martin explained), with "Fly Me To The Moon" on the A side. I really wouldn't count this, as it was released years later.

I think most of Steph's other questions (and Martin's answers) were in my original list: Reprise 45 Singles.

The CD-ROM database lists Reprise R20053 as a US release. No mention of Great Britain, and the sides are reversed: A = "Without A Song" / B = "I'll Be Seeing You". The 1962 date would make sense for a UK-only release though, if it was issued about the time of Great Songs From Great Britain. It's not listed in two other sources for US-only issues.

This is just an educated guess: In 1961, Sinatra was recording for both Capitol and Reprise. Capitol issued several singles from his last three LPs, as required contractually by his termination deal with the label, I believe. The singles from his last Reprise album of the year may have been simply competitive. Despite the flood of FS singles on the market that year, none of these charted.

0713 is a "Back to Back Hits" issue, along with others not noted on the list.

I'd imagine with so many releases in a relatively short amount of time, they cancelled each other out somewhat, with regards to charting.

Bob and Martin, thanks a lot for the precious information. I have now fixed my list adding the incomplete information. Going into a lot more research this weekend, I came to the following conclusions:

1°) The "20,000" series for singles that later dropped the "2" retained it for UK releases. Some references seem to have existed only in the UK:
20,035 The Coffee Song / A Foggy Day
20,053 I'll Be Seeing You / Without A Song
20,148 My Kind Of Girl / Please Be Kind
20,285 Some Enchanted Evening / So In Love

2°) Starting in the 1970s, Warner applied an new numbering system for European singles, using the prefix K for the UK and W for the rest of Europe, in a brand new "14,000" 5-digit series:
14008 My Way / Blue Lace
14075 My Way / Cycles
14131 Rain In My Heart / ?
14148 Strangers In The Night / My Way
14181 Goin' Out Of My Head / Something
14304 Let Me Try Again / Send In the Clowns (orchestral version)
14318 You Will Be My Music / Winners (Theme From Maurie)
14326 Bad, Bad Leroy Brown / I'm Gonna Make It All The Way
14362 You Turned My World Around / Satisfy Me One More Time
14393 Anytime (I’ll Be There) / The Hurt Doesn’t Go Away
14400 I Believe I’m Gonna Love You / The Only Couple On the Floor
14427 I Sing The Songs (I Write The Songs) / Empty Tables
14445 Stargazer / The Best I Ever Had
14463 Dry Your Eyes / Like A Sad Song
14474 My Way / Strangers In The Night
14475 Night And Day / Everybody Ought To Be In Love
14502 (Theme From) New York, New York / That's What God Looks Like To Me
14507 You And Me (We Wanted It All) / The Future (cont'd): "I've Been There"
14513 Say Hello / Good Thing Going (Going Gone)
14516 Thanks For The Memory / A Long Night
NOTES: - This is by no means exhaustive
- Not all were released everywhere

3°) To add to confusion, France also used a "20,000" series to number its singles, which does not coincide with the US/UK one. Examples of this are as follows:
20160 I Can't Believe I'm Losing You / How Old Am I?
20176 My Way Of Life / Cycles
20214 A Day In The Life Of A Fool / If You Go Away (Ne Me Quitte Pas)
20220 Love's Been Good To Me / A Man Alone
20238 I Would Be In Love (Anyway) / Watertown
20400 Anytime At All / ?

4°) There have been many more numbering systems for European Reprise singles over the years, some specifically Dutch ("27000" and "3000" series) and an alternate UK series ("23000"), the specificity of which I do not understand. These include:
23028 Somewhere In Your Heart / I Can't Believe I'm Losing You
23050 There Are Such Things / I'll Never Smile Again (Until I Smile At You)
23052 Strangers In The Night / My Kind Of Town
23166 Somethin’ Stupid / ?
23487 I Will Drink The Wine / Sunrise In The Morning

5°) The "Back To Back Hits" series apparently belongs to a separate numbering series in the "0700" range and includes records by all Reprise artists. Frank's titles include:
0706 The September Of My Years / Softly, As I Leave You
0710 Strangers In The Night / ?
0713 It Was A Very Good Year / Main Theme From 'The Cardinal' (Stay With Me)
0727 The World We Knew (Over And Over) / Somethin' Stupid
0734 My Way / Cycles
? My Kind Of Town That's Life
Again, this is not meant to be exhaustive.

Steph: I was about to post a comprehensive set of corrections to your original list which was attached as an image above. Since you've removed that, I won't bore everyone with the details.

Here are a few more notes:

Early singles with a 5-digit number (starting with "2") had an "R" prefix (i.e. "R2"). E.g., the first Reprise single was R20001.

Singles shown with just an "S" prefix in your list should be "RPS".

Singles with a "7-" prefix were issued in reverse numerical order.

Several issues were marked as "P" (promotional) which were in fact released commercially. Many singles may have had both normal retail and white-label/promo-marked releases, sometimes with different sleeves. Also, there were many (radio promo?) issues containing the same song on both sides (e.g. mono and stereo) which duplicated the number of a corresponding commerical release.

My Kind Of Town / That's Life was 0702 in the "Back To Back Hits" series.

Here are some Sinatra-related singles without FS vocals:

R20120 [Les Baxter Orchestra]: Theme From 'The Manchurian Candidate' / Manchurian Beat
R20169 [Nelson Riddle]: Come Blow Your Horn / Connie's Theme
0246 [Dorsey Burnette Orchestra]: Four For Texas / Foolish Pride
7-29869 [Sylvia Syms conducted by FS]: All My Tomorrows / Them There Eyes

One more note:

R20157 (America The Beautiful / California) was issued as a white label with picture sleeve in 1963; and a brown label with plain sleeve in 1966. Neither was a commercial release.

Just speculation, but perhaps this was payback for the Come Swing With Me vs. Swing Along With Me legal dispute.

I don't have anything to add, other than it's ironic that I'm reading this tonight. I was walking through a local antique store this afternoon and found a bunch of 45s and thought, "I wish I had a complete list of 45's that Sinatra released on Reprise." Thanks for posting this!!!

Begging your pardon, Steph ...

A/B sides are reversed on 0053* and 0184.

"/" missing before "Tina" on 0151 (and the alternate with "Come Blow Your Horn" was strictly a non-commercial white-label radio station promo).

0157: Year should be 1963/1966, as mentioned above, on this non-commercial promo.

0493: Only 300 copies were pressed for FS to give to friends. (It is VERY strange!)

Another tidbit (besides the overdubbed guitar on the two sides of 0677, mentioned by Martin, which has never appeared on CD):
On "Good Thing Going" (B side of 49827), there were two different mixes issued of the same take: The first single issue was mastered too slow; the second was mastered correctly as appears on the album, She Shot Me Down.
"/" missing on 19355. Year on that was 1991.

Here's one more esoteric single, released in 1991 on the Giant label (a Warner Bros. label):
7-19350: VOICES THAT CARE (Celebrity Choir Messages) / MESSAGES OF CARE
Music by David Foster and Peter Celera; Lyrics by Linda Thompson Jenner
(Sinatra is part of the chorus on the A side)

Steph: If you're going to throw in PRO-164, I have a list of other PRO- issues. These were strictly (radio station?) promos and not available commercially:

PRO-162: You're A Lucky Fellow, Mr. Smith / The Hills Of Home (Fred Waring)
PRO-163: Let Us Break Break Together / America, I Hear You Singing (Fred Waring)
PRO-164: Early American / You Never Had It So Good
PRO-166: My Kind Of Town [one-sided record]
PRO-217: Golden Moment / When The Wind Was Green
PRO-231: Summer Wind / Summer Wind
PRO-258: Change Partners / Change Partners
PRO-406: On A Clear Day / Come Back To Me

Also:

PRO-252: Reprise Artist Voice Tracks (FS introduces Nancy Sinatra record)
PRO-981: Excerpts [track(s) and song(s) unknown]
PRO-S1007: To Love A Child / To Love A Child [mono/stereo; small spindle hole]
45KBM XX1: A Special Message To You From Frank Sinatra (Message to record distributors) [one-sided]
45SDM XX2: A Special Message To You From Frank Sinatra (Message to record stores) [one-sided]

NOTE: These do NOT belong in the same list: PRO-164 was recorded in 1964, so it does not belong in sequence with 1963 issues. PRO-217 conflicts with 0217. Etcetera.
