Las Vegas Centennial

EMI Music Marketing to Launch New Official Commemorative Record Label, Las Vegas Centennial Records

Las Vegas Centennial Records / EMI to Present Classic Las Vegas Concert CDs, Including the CD Debuts of Signature Vegas Performances From Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Other Top Music Luminaries

HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Nov. 11 /PRNewswire/ --

EMI Music Marketing (EMM) is proud to announce its exclusive partnership with the City of Las Vegas as the official music company for 2005's Las Vegas Centennial Celebration.

To launch the partnership, EMM has created a new record label imprint, Las Vegas Centennial Records, the official Las Vegas 100th Anniversary label.

Beginning April 26, 2005, Las Vegas Centennial Records will present a new series of CDs culling top performances from the city's fabled nightspots, including the CD debut of classic concert albums from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Louis Prima and Keely Smith, plus multiple artist collections boasting previously unreleased Vegas performances by many of music's top luminaries.

Las Vegas Centennial Records will launch on April 26 with the release of eight official Vegas Centennial titles, including the CD debut of two classic concerts: Frank Sinatra: Live From The Golden Nugget and Dean Martin: Live From The Sands.

Other April 26 releases include High Rollers!, a new all-star collection of classic Vegas showstoppers by the artists who made them famous, including previously unavailable tracks from Peggy Lee, Nelson Riddle and Sammy Davis, Jr.; Live From Las Vegas (Las Vegas Centennial Celebration), with previously unreleased tracks from Keely Smith, Judy Garland, and Louis Prima; Wayne Newton: Mr. Las Vegas!, including two performances never before released on CD; and Bobby Darin: Live At The Flamingo.

Plans for additional Las Vegas Centennial Records releases will soon be announced.

As the exclusive music partner for the Las Vegas Centennial, EMI Music Marketing will actively promote Las Vegas Centennial Records titles in conjunction with several high-profile Centennial Celebration events scheduled
to take place throughout 2005.

Scheduled events include a Centennial launch
party on New Year's Eve, with a fireworks display over the Las Vegas Strip to ring in the city's 100th year, Las Vegas' official 100th Birthday celebration on May 15, featuring the world's largest birthday cake, and a host of concerts and festivities planned for the week of July 4th.

Hundreds of other signature events are scheduled throughout the Centennial year, including the rebirth of Las Vegas' historical Helldorado Days rodeo and parades, a 100 weddings extravaganza event, as well as the creation of a Centennial Time Capsule, which will feature signature artists from Las Vegas Centennial Records.

"EMI Music Marketing is proud to join Las Vegas in celebrating the city's 100th year," said Phil Quartararo, President of EMI Music Marketing and Executive Vice President of EMI Music, North America.

"We share a rich legacy of music, and with Las Vegas Centennial Records, we look forward to presenting the best Vegas performances from many of the artists who have become
synonymous with the city's exciting nightlife." Said Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, "No great party is complete without the right music, and EMI, home to so many of the timeless artists and performances that have helped to shape and define our city's culture, is a perfect match for the Las Vegas Centennial Celebration.

The City of Las Vegas is proud to partner with EMI Music Marketing and Las Vegas Centennial Records as we celebrate 100 years of Vegas magic."

"Sounds" terrific! One question tho - might they have a Frank Sinatra Jr concert available for CD?

THAT would be tops on my holiday list!

wow-i-wow

wow, nancys' news always come to me out of nowhere and there they are *BANG*. for all those who think there is no working on unreleased sinatra stuff, it's going on all the time behind the scenes.

*Frank Sinatra: Live From The Golden Nugget *

i counted on the caesars palace tapes. i think frank switched to the nugget in 1983 under the management of steve wynn? i don't know how long he performed there,. but may be late 80s (i think the nugget was renamed after ballys' in 88?)

GREAT news anyway.
please keep us updated, i must order this CD!

The press release is confusing:

Is it really genuine unreleased Sinatra? I read "classic concerts". So, I don't know.

The Bobby Darin stuff seems like it's genuinely new. And, Peggy Lee is new, at least according to the article.

I can burn my own CDs from the original vinyl......(for my own personal use, of course ).

So, I don't know if I, or others, would pay top dollar for existing old stuff...... where all it is, is simply a new compilation on CD. ----If that's the case here. Again, it's confusing with respect to what's new and what isn't.

The Children have plenty of truly unreleased tracks, and genuine never-before-seen footage in the vaults ie...(It's Time For You etc).... That's where the gold mine is.

Sincerely,
Max, Los Angeles

press releases are often irritating. but given the titles and fact as "the CD debut of two classic concerts: Frank Sinatra: Live From The Golden Nugget and Dean Martin: Live From The Sands... ", it must be new material. there has not been an album called "Frank Sinatra: Live From The Golden Nugget" before.

I think the whole world of Sinatra music lovers is currently celebrating because of that press release by EMI that Nancy copied-in here.

A really new Sinatra live album from Sinatra's harvest period is something that was long-overdue and much-desired-for. Even German newspapers covered the news in their Friday (Nov 12) editions.

Sinatra didn't start to appear at the Vegas Golden Nugget until 1984 (he appeared at Atlantic City's Golden Nugget previously), and there are many concerts in question... any information as to which concert will be on that release??? I hope it might be something from the late December 1986 engagement which was fabulous.

And fabulous news anyway.

Bernhard.

Hi, what great news, Sinatra live from the Golden Nuggett. Can't wait. I remember the tv ads he did with Steve Wynne to promote the GN.
In fact if you go to the GN in the main lobby just behind the concierges desk is a rather huge LeRoy Neiman painting, check the lower left hand corner and you will see Frank. Nice way to start your stay at the hotel. The combination of Frank, Wynne and the GN brought class to the downtown area.

"Frank Sinatra: Live From the Golden Nugget"

Did anybody hear about this?

Apparently it is a live performance of Frank
set to be released by EMI next year for the
centennial anniversary of Las Vegas.

Can anyone verify this?
