Orange "Gates" for Frank in Central Park

So nice of Mr. and Mrs. Christo to erect around 23 miles of Central Park 17,500 "Gates" of swirling orange curtains in honor, I like to think, of Mr. Sinatra's favorite color! 26 years and 20 million dollars of their OWN money later....that's why art is subjective.

That's exactly how I felt when I saw the piece on Christo tonight.

I love the way the gates are pleated too. The color is really beautiful. Golden orange!

Somerville Ma resident Geoff Hargadon set up 16 three and a half inch tall gates around his 2400 sq foot home ...his family cat "Edie" is featured posing at The Gates and he filmed it and sent it to the web...100,000 hits the first day....Hargadon spent $3.50 on materials at the Home Depot and will only "show" them for 2 weeks.....film at 11 :whoa : UPDATE (the site may be "down" as I was unable to access it just now... I read about it in a Saturday, Feb 19th Boston newspaper...ah well....funny idea at any rate.....and cheap....)

When I first saw photos of Christo's Gates, my first thought too, was that it was always Frank's favorite color. They have to be Sinatra fans.!!!

George, that site is quite clever and funny. I had read about it in the NY Times. The man did it as a joke for his friends, not realizing how far it would spread.

Smashing picture ladies, I always wondered what Bruce Willis was referring to a few years back on the "Letterman" show, on how he'd had made a nice orange suit from some material he'd "found" in Central Park LOL! NOW I know .

Hmm. Rhoda, your photo of Kevin McCarthy convinces me more than ever that Mr. McCarthy was sitting a couple of rows in front of my friends and I last night at a screening of From Here to Eternity in Los Angeles. Do you know if he is in L.A. these days? Quite a coincidence that you would post that pic today. Now that I think of it, his presence at the screening is perfectly logical.

David, I really don't know where he is now. I think he is about 93 yrs. old. Many years ago when I was President of the Montgomery Clift NY Chapter of Monty's Fan Club, Kevin, who was his best friend, used to call me on the phone to let me know where to go to meet up with Monty. Kevin's wife also used to call me. I was just a kid.
