The Power Of Sinatra

I have been meaning to post this for about three years, so here goes:

It's funny how Sinatra can become a part of who you are. His voice and words can go in and become part of the fabric of you and the way you think. No other singer has ever done that to me, it is only his voice and his special emotional connection that melds so well with me.

Anyway, I was just going to make an observation. There is this particular example in my own life that really illustrates that point. The first time I heard Frank sing My Shining Hour on Trilogy, one line struck me and has stayed with me from that moment on:

"Like the lights of home before me, or an angel watching for me..."

That one line has been in my head ever since. I live in a valley, and as I drive home at night and see my home town stretched out beneath me - all twinkling lights; that one line always fills my head. I know it always will. That's Sinatra.

__________

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

For Dunc, Night and Day

Yes Dunc, I have that experience and that connection, maybe even more so than you would believe. Some on the forum consider me to be crazy because of it, so I won't ever post those experiences again. But, it all makes sense to me, I'm happy with it, so who cares what others think. Sinatra Forever, Ring-a-Ding Ding. Keep up the connection Dunc and when it gets really mystical let everyone know about it and then there will be two of us.

Best regards

I know exactly what you mean Dunc.

To hear 'Oh by gosh by golly, its time for miseltoe and holly' is to know that Christmas is on its way.

To hear 'Come Fly With Me' puts me on a plane on holiday, because i always play it when in flight out of habit.

There's a song for every moment and every memory.

The feelings are mutural...

Hi, The Power of Sinatra is so contagious, like last nights Oscars, Billy Crystal made the night with his opening act. When he mention "you can't forget Frank" and sang a melody of one of Frank's songs, the rest of the show didn't matter to me. Joe..

Power?

Hi
Frank in his hey day seemed to be
exactly what life was all about.
He seemed to BE life in a lot of ways.
How he lived life...to the full.
How he had so much talent and used it.
He was the ultimate roll model.
Plus his singing would give a person meaning
and strength.
He was a great man.
No question about it.
Barry.

The Power of Sinatra

For me, it's a case of us and them. In other words, if you love Sinatra, no matter what else I might think of any way you live your life or what your philosophy may be or your politics, you are automatically my kind of person -- because you love Sinatra. (However -- that excludes psychos like Saddam!)

For me, Sinatra is the tie that binds. How can you listen to that beautiful music and not be moved -- to happiness, to sadness, or whatever.

Other singers come and go.

And then... there is Sinatra.

He will always be there for me.

That is my mantra.

I listen to Frank everyday..I will choose his CDS depending on my mood...He gets me pumped up for work every day when I put in the "lucky numbers" CD....great little CD with some of his greatest and jazziest tunes...NY...NY...Come Blow YOur Horn...ect...He's also gotten me through the the tough times, when in the wee small hours when I was feeling down, I'd put in "only the Lonely" and he'd be there right with me with all his passion and emotion....He has much power...and a very positive power in helping me understand, enjoy and get through life's adventures...Amy

The Power of Sinatra

Wow what a topic: Yes he was a power-house, and has effected my life if so many ways. Right Bill?

His voice, his music, everything about him, he was one giant of a man. I can't get thru a day without his music. I gladly admit that I'm hooked!!
He can make me blue, he can make me cry, he can make me laugh, he can make me dance, and he can make me feel so darn good, I have to burst out laughing. That my friends is POWER!!!

Charlie

When your eyes met mine it was eternity, just catch the wave don't be afraid of loving me!!!

Every single moment of my life.

If I'm happy HE knows exactly what to sing.
If I'm sad HE knows just what to say.
I feel every single day that my blue-eyed angel is watching over me.
Greatness.
