Talking about car, reading your stuff about ferrari, jags, even lamborgini really pushed me into changing my own old Nissan... But I after checking my bank account, I found that the only car I can afford for what is in my pocket is the one I post right here...

I think I will keep my dear old Nissan for a while...

It has potential

I dunno. You could put some 22" dubs on that car, Pirelli tires, flame paint job, throw some bling on little buddy there (the skeleton).....in other words, you could "Pimp That Ride"

(don't forget about the sound system. You'll need that to listen to Frank)

Thanks John. I'll have to buy a copy. Nice to know what color Frank's Mark II was - I've wanted to know for ages. I've never seen a brown Mark II...

John,

Thanks a ton for that info! I'll be on the lookout for this month's edition. I've always wondered what types of cars Frank drove/preferred.

I knew somewhere along the way he must have liked Cadillacs.. that 58 Eldorado is phenomenal. The 56 Linc is all-class, too.

Guess he was not a Porsche guy though

Hey, wait a second..I just looked something up; remember the Esquire magazine, April 1966 edition? "Frank Sinatra Has a Cold"? The writer mentions Sinatra driving off in his Ghia.... does Sinatra pull up to the "Man and His Music" TV special in '65 in his own car? I think that was a Ghia, come to think of it? That is really cool, if I'm right?

I picked up the issue. Nice magazine. I couldn't find anywhere in the article that the Mark II pictured was a Frank's was, color wise. Did I miss this? I did see them mentioned that Frank's Dual Ghia was all black. Or did they just show off a really nice burgandy Mark II.

I saw what looked to be one in the same color at the Atlantic City car show (for the sale of older cars) this past February. Gorgeous...

I picked this up at lunch...it looks awesome! That eldorado is the definition of the word "cool". I never realized they cost more than a Rolls Royce back then!

Unfortunatley, after Uncle Jilly died from the Jaquar gas tanks that exploded, I would NEVER drive a Jaguar again!!!

Well, I don't know if that is a fair statement about Jaguar; Mr. Rizzo was hit and subsequently killed from behind by a drunk driver.

Furthermore, the driver was convicted of second degree murder and received a 15-year-to-life sentence.

Really more of a life's lesson not to drink and drive, more than a comment on Jaguar quality

Hmmm...

I have tried to remember a brown car but I honestly can't. I don't think Dad ever had or would have had a brown car.

Of course, I have been wrong before

Nancy, do you remember the Mark II that your father had? Do you have any pictures of his?

In the magazine, the Mark II shown doesn't really look brown to me, more like the burgandy that I saw on a Mark II in person about a month ago.

I read somewhere that Frank was at one point considering buying a Stutz, sort of like the one Elvis and Sammy Davis had.

Did Frank ever own a Mercedes-Benz? I remember seeing a photograph of him and Sammy Davis getting into a black 1988 420SEL. I'll see if I can do a search and find the picture somewhere on the internet.

The Masarati actually belonged to Tina's husband, the late Wes Farrell. Dad drove it for a few months and I don't know where it went after that. It was silver. I don't think it was a convertible though.

Martin, you're quite right. I saw the magazine again in better lighting, and the one they pictured is burgundy. Some of our little downtown bookstores are in old buildings with narrow aisles and not the best lighting - of course, the dimlits have some of the most novel second hand stuff.

Thanks, Nancy..these are truly facinating tidbits for Car/Sinatra buffs!

Given Frank's propensity to gravitate away from brown shoes and suits, I doubt he'd like a brown car either! haha! Burgundy, however sounds awesome.

The Stutz was a pretty wild car...I remember reading about Dino's.

1969 Cadi 'Silver Spur '

I am looking to buy a 1969 Cadi that was owed by Frank. It was left to his 2nd Cousin Charles Risten. I have a section from the will that he was left the " silver spur and a Mercedes" does anybody know if this is valid, any help would be appreciated

"Survey says" -

not true. Must be somebody else's will.
