The Song Became Frank's

Have you ever noticed the amount of songs that were introduced by other artists, but somehow, once Frank sang it, whether live or recorded, it became associated with him?

For instance, while listening to The Concert Sinatra album, even though these songs were all introduced by other artists from Broadway, etc., you always think of Frank. He just added a new dimension to the song with his interpretation and a brand new arrangement. The same with his Broadway Album.

One thing you can be sure of, when Frank did a song from another artist, it always sounded so much different. Not like when a lot of artists copy a song, it will sound almost the same, with little or no variation.

Yes, Frank so truly unique.

Not always, Denny. I like Bobby Hebb's original Sunny more than Frank Sinatra's version. Same goes for O.C. Smith's Little Green Apples.

Sean, I agree with you on Sunny. Did you ever listen to Frank sing Little Green Apples on his TV special? I believe it was '69. Sounds much better live.

I was actually referring more to the popular standard songs, you know Porter, Gershwin, etc. where many of those songs were introduced by other artists, especially show tunes.
