Frank On What's My Line

If you get the Game Show Channel, you might have seen the November '66 What's My Line episode where Frank appeared. On that show, Frank was the first guest, with Mark Goodson as a panelist. After Arlene Francis quickly guessed it was Frank, Frank took the seat & played along. He was seated next to Arlene Francis & Phyllis Newman. And, of course, guess who the other guest celebrity was? Mia Farrow.

Interestingly enough, Frank obviously would not appear on the show while Dorothy Kilgallen was alive. I understand through her syndicated newspaper column, she was a real smear artist and wrote a lot of nasty things about Frank. (What else is new)?

He was however, good friends with Arlene Francis, and allowed her to interview him on her radio show.

I was able to tape this show from the Game Show Network. I was lucky enough to catch an airing during wee hours of the morning. I'm sure they repeat these shows from time to time.

P.S. I remember seeing this episode when it originally aired back in '66, on a Sunday night. At that time, I was only 14 and living with my grandmother. Such wonderful memories.

cool, thanks fpr your post. i guess we are lucky that the show from 1966 still exists. i'd like to see more of franks "guest" appearances. he tended to be more loose than on his own full specials.

Frank on What's My Line?

The Game Show Network (I think they want to be called GSN these days) has been showing What's My Line? in the wee hours of the morning now for the last few years. Nancy was the 'Mystery Guest' a few nights ago, and as long as they continue to air the programs (it's going to change from black and white to color soon), Frank should be the first guest on August 23 at 4:30am EST. Mia Farrow will be the second guest. It should make for a good show. Just cross your fingers that GSN will show the color episodes. They pulled "I've Got a Secret" from their rotation as soon as I got completely hooked on it.
I'll keep you posted if it looks like a sure thing.

Frank will be on What's My Line 8/23/04

I mentioned this once before, but I wasn't sure if it was going to occur. Now it looks positive. The Game Show Network (GSN) airs What's My Line? at 4:30 AM (EST). The episode with Frank as the first 'mystery guest' and Mia Farrow as the second will be on this Monday morning.

What's My Line

Interesting re: FS & MIA on the show...Gee..that has to be from circa 1966 or 1967, right ? They were "splitsville" in 1968...When I was visiting the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach in March of that year, Frank was filming "Lady in Cement" w/Raquel Welch, etc. & Mia was over in India with the "hippie" nonsense seeing some "spiritual" cat with the Beatles (60's jazz)...Anyway, when Frank was in Miami, Mia came back to visit him for a few days & things were not goin' so well...They were splitting up. That was a mismatch, even though Mia was not a bad person, etc. But Frank needed someone older, wiser and classier...Angie Dickinson would have been nice, maybe...or Barbara Rush, etc. But, at that time, Frank was ready to "fly" from Mia.

Yes, that was a great episode. A whole ago I recorded it on a DVD recorder. Yes, Mia Farrow was on that show. Panelists included Phyllis Newman, Arlene Francis, Mark Goodsen (until Frank replaced him and I believe Bennett Cerf. Arlene Francis was the one who guessed the mystery guest was Frank pretty quickly. I think that was also the last year of What's My Line with John Daly. In fact, Frank didn't appear on the show until Dorothy Kilgallon (the smear artist journalist) was no longer with us.

What's My Line???

I remember a few years ago when the game show network was running WHAT'S MY LINE? seeing Frank as one of the Mystery Guests. Was he ever a panalist? I remember seeing Sammy as a panelist but not Frank? Was he?

Was Frank ever a panelist on "What's my Line"?

I believe he was, not sure of the year thou, I believe that when he was he was married to Mia, and she was the mystery guest. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

It's in Nancy's book:
Quote:
November 27, 1966: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sinatra were the guests on CBS' What's My Line, hosted by John Daly.

I remember seeing a clip of this show. I think it was on TV Land. They had a countdown... 100 most surprising moments in television history, or something to that affect. Mia was adorable. They looked so cute together.

**** I remember a few years ago when the game show network was running WHAT'S MY LINE? seeing Frank as one of the Mystery Guests. Was he ever a panalist?***

FS was a member of the panel on the mentioned Nov 27, 1966 show, while Mia (Farrow, his wife) was the mystery guest. FS himself never starred as mystery guest, the 66 show was his only appearance at the show.

Bernhard.

PS: Anyone has a link or such on the show's host, John Daly, and what became of him?
