Awesome movie, shows Shirly's talents, and you can see a bond between FS and her. This is a movie I recommend to anyone, Frank Sinatra fan or otherwise!

Waiting for the DVD

I have been waiting ages for a really top quality remastered sound and picture DVD version of this movie with as many extras as they can throw in - including that famous visit to the set by Kruschev.

There are some very interesting photos taken during the recording of some of the music for the movie with Maurice Chevalier which I have in a book of photos I acquired recently - FS, being the ultimate professional, wanted some changes to improve the score and the suits were called in while everything was halted. In the end the result was an excellent recording.

It's very frustrating, I have this on video but I haven't seen it yet because our video recorder is out of action, so, like Jeffrey, I am eagerly awaiting the DVD!

A beautiful performance of 'It's Alright With Me' from this film would make it worth the DVD price alone.

My VHS copy is fairly battered!

Hi Karyn,

Sorry to lear about the VCR - Can Can is a very enjoyable movie so if there is no immediate news about a DVD release of Can Can, I suggest you either get your VCR fixed or even better, replace it with a brand new one - which might even be the cheaper option these days. I guess like me you must have loads of videos that you may like to watch again.

We will keep hoping they release the DVD soon.

Regards

Jeffrey

I just caught this movie over the New Years holiday (I think it was on TCM) and I can't believe I'd never seen it before. I was quite surprised as to how many now, well-known songs were on the soundtrack.

Great performances all around.

Hi Hillary,

Can-Can is one my favorite musicals. It remains fresh.

It's frequently aired on the Fox Movie Channel and TCM.

... which also brings to mind Frank's great performance of that song in the presence of Juliet Prowse on one of the Timex shows. Awesome!

Saw a nice ad for the dvd release in Entertainment Weekly. May 18th issue with Johnny Depp on the Cover (Pirates of The Caribbean). It's on page 50.

Very nice cover art.

Really looking forward to this release

"It's All Right With Me"

As has been previously noted in this thread Sinatra's rendition of this song in the film is simply scrumptious.

Just a reminder --

This film is screening May 19th at 3:30pm Eastern Standard Time on the Fox Movie Channel. If you have never seen it this is a great opportunity to see Frank, Shirley, Juliet and Maurice do their thing.
