Excellent movie and great title song. I can remember seeing this first time around when it was first released - I was really very young then - but the years are starting to catch up with me.

Come Blow Your Horn

Absolutely one of my favorite movies of Sinatra's. Barbara Rush was a doll in it and Jill St. John a gas...Throw in Lee J. Cobb, Molly Picon, Tony Bill, Phyllis McGuire, Dan Blocker, etc. and you have quite a cast. The title song is also one of my favorites...Great Riddle arrangement, etc. I have the Soundtrack from the movie and there is a beautiful piece of music that played briefly in the move...It's called "Alan's Hideaway." If you ever get a chance to hear the soundtrack, take a listen...

Also one of my favorite movies, but so overlooked by alot of people. I love the cast it was perfect. and love the title song.

By all means if you don't have the movie, you should get it. Its fun just to go back and watch it.

I really liked this film too. Thought it was humerous when Frank said to Buddy something like ".. and another thing, keep your hands off my fig newtons".

I have said on another post , this has got to be the best Sinatra film I have seen so far, absolutely brilliant, Frank looked like he was having so much fun and looked fantastic.

Also no one mentioned the cameo of Dean Martin!

I would recommend this film to anyone, even if not a big fan of Sinatra ,his mother in the film was hilarious.

Turner Classic Movies is showing Come Blow Your Horn right now. The opening credits were shown in letterbox (widescreen) format, and then the actual film changed to a pan and scan "cropped' copy. TCM usually always presents films in the widescreen format. What is Paramount waiting for ! This movie deserves the deluxe DVD widescreen treatment with bonus features. This is one of Mr. Sinatra's best comedic roles ever!!!

Yes it was a nice gift! I didn't know when I'd see this movie again! They showed Abbott & Costello before Come Blow Your Horn...another of my favorites!

One thing that struck me is how nice the apartment is - it still looks good today. Neat to see one of Frank's albums on the turntable.

Happy birthday, Ron!

This was such a fun movie, and one that I never tire of seeing...It was such great cast...Lee J. Cobb was just such a delight..."You BUM"...this was classic...And Molly Picon was fantastic as well...but seeing Frank in this role...oh to me he was just so cool..and the scene when he sings "Come Blow Your Horn" as a means of introducing his brother "Tony Bill" to the good life...oh this is classic Sinatra...The suit, the hat and the swagger..Oh I have it on VHS but watched it on TMC...just more special that way..Happy B-day Ron...Amy

This one is simply a gasser and is among my absolute favorite FS movies although I've seen it the first time only a few weeks ago. Great music (the scenes in which the theme is sung are of course the greatest) a marvel appartment and as much orange as in no other Sinatra movie
The other actors are fine too, e.g. Frank's funny "father" or of course Jill St. John...

Unfortunately it is one of them films in which the German synchronisation of Frank is annoyingly unsuitable. So I long for the original version and hope that it will be available on DVD sooner or later.

Kind regards

Andreas

I agree, Andi, re the synchro - while that's sort of a general problem of course and not limited to Germany, or Sinatra movies. There possibly will never be that one "perfect synchro" - maybe voice-wise sometimes (in Sinatra's case however, the German synchros have been especially bad), but then there's still the synchro-script, which depends on how much the synch-scripters are up to "understand" the original cracks & wit & etc...

That's where DVD is a REAL technical advantage - if the releasing companies do take advantage of what's technically possible (which in an annoying amount of cases, they don't), viewers can chose between the original version and a synchro version in their language, at their own preferences. What a great solution.

Bernhard.
