So Dino,
How's the music on that soundtrack album? Anything worth listening to? |

Track listing
Sorry for the lateness of my reply, I'm out of sync with most of you guys down here in Australia.
"Lazy day in medicine bend" which is the opening theme of the movie, starts of bold & bright then becomes tense. "Sergeant Boswell's rock" is a hoot, as is "Beethoven in the west". But the best pick is "Ballad of the Sergeants 3". |

Michael Pate
The wonderful Australian actor Michael Pate died last month aged 88, he played the father of Henry Silva's indian character in Sergeants Three & was in a lot of other US films / TV shows before returning to Australia. It's amazing, I had just finished watching Sergeants 3 with Frank Jr's audio commentary in which he spoke glowingly of him & the next day he died.

Hi Dean
It's true we are enjoying your pictures but could you please make them a bit smaller? Thanks.

Less is more
Hi Nancy,
after speaking with "Guru Bob" I now understand the limitations my images may cause, I'll endeavour to scale them down. I moved to N/E rural Victoria 5 years ago to work for a winery & even though I love the country life I miss the International Sinatra Society meetings we would have in Melbourne, this site fills that void, thanks to all members for making me feel welcome! |

Coming up on TCM in just a few minutes - "Sergeants Three" at 6PM Eastern time. Not Frank's finest hour by any stretch, but it has its moments with the rat pack plus Philip, Dennis and Lindsay Crosby. It will be followed at 8:00 by the great musical, "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers."

I just got this on DVD and watched it for the first time- quite enjoyable. I also picked up an original pressing of the soundtrack album, which was quite nostalgiac as my parents had it when I was a kid.

SERGEANTS 3 - 1962
I first saw it when it initially aired on TV in the late 60's, and not again until just a few months ago, when a friend gave me a copy for my birthday. Not only are the Fab Five good in this, but so are veteran heavy Henry Silva, the ever-lovely Ruta Lee, Richard Simmons (early TV's Sergeant Preston, NOT the exercise guru!), and Dennis, Lindsay, and Philip Crosby, the first two of whom, sadly wound up putting an end to their own days.
Billy May's score is one of his best, and then, there's that semi-legendary poem by set visitor Jimmy Stewart, which ends: Now, the church bells don't ring, They go "ring-a-ding-ding," And the cows go "do-be-do-be-do."

Frank Jr. provides great commentary on this DVD..
This was a fun movie...and the best part of the DVD is that you can click on to watch the movie with Frank Jr. narrating comments throughout...which was really quite interesting and enjoyable too...a must see...in my opinion..enjoy
