Thanks for the feedback. Changed the tubes on my system. Should play fine now, I hope.

EDIT: Tried it on two CD players, but nothing's changed. It's difficult to describe the sound. It's not so much a hiss as a sort of distortion. The quality of the sound in the previous seconds is totally different in the defective area, like there's too much sibilance. It happens in a few places near the end of the last track. Could I possibly have received a bum disc?

I think this set will be my next Sinatra purchase. I've wanted to get the '57 concert for quite a while, and I think I'll order this from the UK, since that will hopefully include the 1984 version of Mack the Knife.

In ref "In Concert 57" Frank was just a spring chicken really if one thinks about it, when this was recorded- and in terrific voice too, his voice to me when live sounds as good as a studio recording, even better sometimes, no other artist can match that and what artists' today would have gone on to have created their own label, and continue to record for decades to follow...Frank was and is unique, a very special man indeed.

This album came up on Amazon as recommended for me. So, of course, I went right to Bob's Sinatra listing web page and there it was, so I knew it was legit, and found this thread. Which I just read in its entirety. Great information here, especially mind-blowingly so from Bob. Nice work, sir.

Anyway, I'm intrigued by the Seattle concert and listened to the tracks on Amazon. Very excited to say I just initiated the MP3 download, and hope to get the box packaging still that is just beautiful. Off to find that now...

The box, if a bit oversized for whats in it, is a nice presentation of the set. I bought the UK edition in the deluxe box, and the US on normal jewel case (different track listing) so its nice enough to have both. As the thread shows there were loads of variations but I stop at US and UK.

Keith- I dig that too. My favorite song from the show is Just One of Those Things which I find much catchier than the studio version. I had to go on a really boring road trip to Indiana in the spring and I must've played that song 10 times over at one point.

Definitely a good disc to keep you company for a long drive.
