This early Capitol CD (one in a series produced for various artists) was significant upon its release in 1989 for the inclusion of many singles which had not appeared in print for many years. Although all of these were later made available in The Complete Capitol Singles Collection, this disc has remained in print continuously for 16 years.
This CD is also significant for the studio session "chatter" on several tracks. The 12-page liner booklet contains excellent annotations. |

"You can't cheat with notes"
the studio chatter does bring a further nice element to this particular (more eclectic) Capitol compilation that sets it aside from the multitude of others, and as such makes it a favoured choice. |

I'm curious about the sound. So I ordered a new copy. Maybe a "must have" for my collection.

The sound is exceptional. This disc, and the 3-disc set The Capitol Years, benefit from the oversight of producer Ron Furmanek. These tracks were transferred from the "correct" (original) versions of the Capitol master tapes. The audio, remastered by Larry Walsh without unnecessary digital processing, is much improved over most other CD issues of the same tracks.
This is definitely a "must have" for any serious collector. Bob in Boston

A fine compilation. These 1:1 transfers are really exceptional.

I've always liked this collection because of the photo spread in the center showing the different memorabilia. It was one of the things that got me hooked on the idea of trying to collect more than just the records, like the sheet music...

I heard High Hopes on N4F a few weeks ago with Frank's opening comments to the kids to "have fun" and "just relax" and was immediately curious where that version could be found. I did some searching and finally found this thread.
This is a great CD, not just for the studio chatter, but for the excellent sound. I've already listened to it several times and it'll stay at the top of my playlist for a while, I'm sure.

Great taste Dina, one of the best, maybe the best, single disc compilation.
