Is he speaking about Quincy, CA and Nyack, CA?? Only curious because I live near both and they are also within an hour or so of Crystal Bay, CA where you can find....drum roll....Cal-Neva Casino.

"Let's Get Away From It All"
Since this terrific standard was written in 1941 by Matt Dennis (lyrics) and Tom Adair (music), my guess is that they were writing about Nyack, NY and Quincy, MA -- as opposed to those California communities. I don't believe that the Cal-Neva Lodge existed that early.

Yep: Quincy, Massachusetts and Nyack, New York.
Note that this was Sinatra's second recording of the song. It was introduced in 1941 by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, with vocals by Frank, Connie Haines, Jo Stafford, and the Pied Pipers. See the thread for The Song Is You (among others) in Frank's Recordings. Bob in Boston

Makes perfect sense. I had not bothered to look up the year the song was written. No...the Cal-Neva did not exist at that time. It's just a huge coincidence sinse Quincy, CA and Nyack, CA are about 46 miles from each other. Nyack, CA is 35 miles from Crystal Bay, CA.
Mystery (to me) solved. Thanks, guys.

A great album. I'm still waiting for the MONO-version (by MFSL)...

I refer to "Moonlight In Vermont" and "Autumn In New York" as The TWINS! With my Senior Center & JCC audiences, there's always a "polite gasp" when I reveal that those magnificent tracks were arranged by Billy May -- that's because the Sinatra-May greatness of "Come Dance With Me" is so prominent in the audiences' thoughts! I've spoken with enough people over the years who are thoroughly convinced that Billy May wrote ALL of Frank's uptempo charts! With "Vermont" and "Autumn," my listeners have a nice, contented look, as they listen to Frank; then, when we start to delve more closely into those tracks, and I replay them, the appreciation for May's sterling ballad work is duly noted by the attendees!
The TWINS never fail to impress! They are gorgeously sung, orchestrated, and played! As Mr. Berlin wrote, "Who could ask for anything more?"

I will happily buy a Mono version. As long as they can produce the best sounding stereo version at the same time not instead of.
The mono may be cleaner, technically better but I still like the stereo version too.

I'm Happy to say I found a Mono LP. I can't wait to hear it, when it arrives.
The copy i have at this time has scratches.

When I get ready to treat myself to a 70th birthday CD player (with self-contained speakers), I'm going to count on all of the SFF engineers, tech wizards, and experts to, hopefully, get your input! This is your first official "heads up!"

I just listened to the Mono version of the song "Come Fly with Me" from Best of the Best for the first time. Wow!!!! The detail is amazing, you can hear instruments that are not audible in the Stereo version. Like others have mentioned, this would be great Mono release for Mobile Fidelity.

I was fortunate to snag a near mint copy of a gray label mono LP of Come Fly With Me off ebay last year. I had bought it for the album cover (which I framed and hung in my office). I didn't bother playing the LP for weeks because I assumed it was scratched all to hell. When I did, I was shocked to find it was the mono version and that it sounded quite good. I recorded it to my Hard Drive and cleaned up the pops and crackles and recorded it to CD. This now the only version of the album I play now.
I was not aware at the time of how different the mono mix is from the stereo until I heard this. The multiple mics do indeed pick up lots of instruments that are totally missing from the stereo version (like harp glissandos on the title cut); and Frank's vocals are more prominent. I know the recent 180 gram LP release was the mono version. I'd like to see it released on CD so everyone can hear it.

Yes, it keeps the original cover so is emblazoned with "stereo" but it isn't.

Lee, you could go to Amazon.com yourself and not have to wait for an answer. Search on "Come Fly With Me," and when you get to that page, select Find and enter "2009." You will see a link to the item you want. Took me about 30 seconds! BTW, it's $18.25 plus shipping.

I know it's a bonus track but it is on this album so I'll post it here:
I wish I could articulate this better but just being a big fan of music I will say it like I know how: "I Love Paris" has got to be one of the best phrased out songs by Mr. Sinatra during that era. I had my iPod on shuffle on my "Capitol Years" playlist this morning on the drive into work and this song came on. It flows so unbelievably natural and has a feel to it that is very hard to describe.
