At the Movies (2008)
Have just read, via Amazon, about a new FS compilation, due out from Capitol, entitled At the Movies. Does Bob, or anyone else, know anything about it?

There was a Capitol CD of that title. See here:
Frank Sinatra At The Movies (1993) However, the track list shown on Amazon is that of an eponymous UNAUTHORIZED British CD containing Tommy Dorsey tracks. My guess is the Amazon listing is in error. Either it's not a Capitol product, or Capitol is rereleasing the out-of-print CD (doubtful). |

It now appears there IS an entirely new Capitol CD of the same title, but different contents, to be released next month. This is going to be confusing (as evidenced by the fact that Amazon is showing the wrong track list at this early date).
![]() I've started a separate thread for the new album: SINATRA AT THE MOVIES 2008Additional comments should be directed to that thread. |

Unfortunately Capitol is our weakest link.

Indeed. It seems like they just re-package and re-package, hoping to make money out of completist fans with deep pockets (mea MAXIMA culpa), something that dates back to just after FS's split with the label to form Reprise.
I wonder if he ever had cause to regret signing over the rights to his masters to Capitol, considering what's happened over the years since (Pickwick, bargain basement issues with bargain basement sound, etc.)? I'm sure Bob or Nancy can give some sort of answer in that regard.

Yeah... it's a shame that Capitol still acts the same way today as they did in the early 60's when Frank left the label. They have the greatest recordings every made by anyone but the recordings have never been treated with the proper care or respect.

Somehow, somewhere I SWORE read that Mr. S owned all of his Capitol masters. This is criminal.

This may clear up the issue a bit:

The only good thing is that, according to Larry Walsh, the tapes are in excellent condition.
