Okay,
I'm posting a vote for future reissue. I've been listening to this album with the Sinatra/Basie from 62. I think a release of "Sinatra-Basie" with "I Might As Well Be Swing" would do more then well. If one would like to make it a box set. Add Sinatra at the Sands. and the music from the Hollywood Palace appearance with Basie. In addition to What I have listed I'm sure there were other arrangements that were never used but were performed by the Dynamic Duo Any Thoughts? Dale Last edited by Nancy; 06-25-2010 at 09:12 AM. One of the great 'feel-good' albums ever!
"More," "Wives & Lovers," "I Can't Stop Loving You," "Dolly," -- one infectious track after another!
Frank hit the 'mother-lode,' when he hooked up with Q, The Count, Frank Wess, Marshall Royal, and Co. It was, as the cliche goes, "a match made in heaven!" And it was so evident that Frank was having the time of his life! The Basie Band & Mr. S. produced "other-worldly" sounds!

This is a perfect little tight swinging slam bam thank you mam, wowie zowie album! I'm so glad I played this after I played the first Sinatra/Basie album (Historical First) because I would have been disappointed by the other one, because this one is by far the superior of the two.
It's weird that he did two Tony Bennett signature songs (Best is Yet to Come & The Good Life) on here, making it like a "tribute" (LOL!). Anyway I loved it to bits. Every song fits in perfectly and snug like. It felt like a short album, because it was over before I knew it! I enjoyed every song in it's own way. Fly Me to the Moon is so famous and used in so many movies, commercials tv shows, etc, but it still sounds so great and fresh on this album, amazing. I can't say enough about this other than I better get another copy on vinyl, because I will be playing this one quite a lot! Oh and I loved the the Brian Wilson connection (I Wanna Be Around). Fantastic!

Now that you mention it, Brian Wilson and Mike Love also did "I Get Around," a swingin' tune that I'd like to have heard Sinatra sing!

There's a few Beach Boys songs Frank might have attempted. "God Only Knows," "Wonderful," "The Warmth of the Sun," and "Caroline, No" come to mind. Brian wrote a song expressly for Frank called "Still I Dream of It." Brian wound up recording it, but there's no official release (I think). Here's a demo from 1976 for anyone interested.

And more on topic.... Sinatra's version of "More" and "I Believe in You" and "The Good Life" are big favorites of mine. He swaggers harder than Tony on "Good Life"... sorry Mr. Benedetto.
