I would assume it would be in the next batch or the final batch of UMG reissues, all the other Reprise issues are coming out.

Moonlight Sinatra is a joy from start to finish, it's such a simple idea putting songs about the moon together but boy is it an effective one.

Fine performances, great orchestrations and liner notes too! "Oh, You Crazy Moon" is great too, but it stylistically doesn't match anything else. I wish there had been another song or two closer to that style. (Love the back photo too)

Just listening to this "forgotten" masterpiece now, sensational arrangements by Nelson Riddle, definatley some of his finest work with FS

Very nice album and still not announced as a UMG reissue (will doubtless be in the big box they have planned for November though)

A beautiful album! Nelson's charts are very under-stated, and Frank's singing is sublime! Some wonderful moments: "I Wished On The Moon," "Moonlight Serenade," "The Moon Got In My Eyes," and "Moon Love," a great TD classic, beautifully re-visited by Frank & Nelson.
Lovely, lovely sounds!

Moonlight Sinatra 1966
I am making a New Year's resolution right now to get this album/CD.
"Moonlight Serenade," is right up there in my all time top 5 songs sung by Frank. To die for! ![]() When I hear Frank sing "Moonlight Serenade," I see him so vividly in my mind's eye standing there crooning, fedora tilted to the side, (and a pleasant vision at that )What a bonus to get all the other "moon" songs on the CD too, nice. Why wait? Maybe I should just ask Santa.

I've been listening to this album on my ipod this week, the best on this has to be "Moonlight Serenade". The orchestration captures the song perfectly and the singer of course makes it more perfect (I know, gramatically incorrect)

With the lunar eclipse tonight, I thought I would get this album out and play it.

I just listened to this, as it appears in the new UMG Reprise box, and agree with the many others who have raved about it, even judged by Frank's standards.
Listening to Moon Love, I recognized the music as an adaptation of something classical, but couldn't quite place it, although I was pretty sure the composer was either Tchaikovsky or Rachmaninoff. I figured correctly that I would find my answer in this thread: Quote:

"Moon Love" was introduced in 1939 by the Glenn Miller Orchestra, with vocal by Ray Eberle. Frank Sinatra sang it with the Harry James Orchestra that year; an aircheck can be found on Harry James and His Orchestra featuring Frank Sinatra: The Complete Recordings 1939 and in the box set A Voice in Time.

What can I say? Not one song really stood out over the rest, well maybe Moonlight Serenade, BUT, it's all really one big warm tapestry, or better yet, one big warm blanket. It's pretty silly to have a whole album with the word "Moon" in each title, but boy oh boy does it really work wonders. If you play this while the moon is falling, it's basically magic. This was a light album, but a super fantastic light album at that. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

" Reaching For The Moon" and " The Moon Was Yellow" two of my favourites on this album.

Moonlight Sinatra is one of my favourite FS albums I find it very soothing. So soothing in fact that last time I listened to it was on a train home from London and I fell asleep to the music and missed my station resulting in a hefty taxi bill from the last stop....was worth it though.

Dorothy Parker, a member of the famed Algonquin Roundtable, which brought together some of the great wits and successful writing talents of the '20's & '30's, wrote the lyric to "I Wished On The Moon."
Here's all you need to know about the very quotable, clever, and very witty Ms. Parker -- in reviewing a less-than-stellar production of a drama called "The House Beautiful," she wrote, "'THE HOUSE BEAUTIFUL' IS 'THE PLAY LOUSY'!" It's a wonderful lyric, though!

I love it. I have been playing this CD a lot lately. I never seem to tire of it.
