MY WAY 40TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

FRANK SINATRA ENTERPRISES AND CONCORD MUSIC GROUP TO RELEASE
SINATRA REISSUE AND AN UNRELEASED LIVE RECORDING

My Way 40th Anniversary Edition
Includes Two Previously Unreleased Tracks

Never-Before-Available 1986 Concert
Live At The Meadowlands Includes 18 Unreleased Performances

Sets Available May 5 From Frank Sinatra Enterprises And
Concord Music Group

LOS ANGELES — Frank Sinatra Enterprises announced an agreement today with the Concord Music Group to release select titles from Sinatra’s Reprise Records catalog, including an unreleased live recording. The agreement commences on May 5 with the first two titles: My Way 40th Anniversary Edition, which includes two previously unreleased tracks and the never-before-available Live At The Meadowlands, the legendary 1986 live album that spotlights Sinatra back in his New Jersey stomping grounds, wooing a sold-out crowd. Both titles will also be available at all digital music providers.

Produced by Don Costa and Sonny Burke, My Way was released in March 1969 and features a varied collection of contemporary pop songs, including Simon and Garfunkel’s “Mrs. Robinson,” The Beatles’ “Yesterday,” Ray Charles’ “Hallelujah I Love Her So,” and the iconic title track, “My Way,” which would become his career theme song. The song occupies a special place in popular music, influencing generations of musicians, from Elvis Presley to the Sex Pistols, both of whom conspicuously recorded their own versions. Famous Sinatraphile Bono, who contributes the My Way 40th Anniversary Edition liner notes, wrote of the song, “..[it’s] a boast – more kiss-off than send-off – embodying all the machismo a man can muster about the mistakes he’s made on the way from here to everywhere.” Also included are two unreleased tracks: Stevie Wonder’s classic “For Once In My Life, recorded on August 13, 1969 for the Sinatra television special, and a live version of “My Way,” recorded on October 24, 1987, at Reunion Arena in Dallas.

Live At The Meadowlands, recorded March 14, 1986, features 18 previously unreleased tracks. For this now-legendary hometown show, Sinatra showcased songs from every phase of his stellar career, mixing standbys such as “One For My Baby,” “You Make Me Feel So Young,” and “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” with late-period classics such as “L.A. Is My Lady” and “Theme From New York, New York.” The long-anticipated release of Live At The Meadowlands holds special significance among Sinatra fans as it’s one of the most sought-after and hard-to-find concert recordings of his career. Hank Cattaneo, Sinatra’s long time production manager and confidante, wrote the set’s liner notes.

"Didn't We" is one of his most under-appreciated interpretations. Nobody recorded a better version...sadness and longing...Sinatra at his best with a great arrangement.

Thanks for the info!! Excellent!

ADDED: One of my fondest memories of FS in concert was in Detroit in the late 80s - when the band played the instrumental bridge during "For Once in My Life" FS said to "light 'em up!!". Instantly very powerful lights illuminated the dark orchestra and they played their butts off for him. Quite moving!

It's a great song. When Richard Harris put it on the B side of his hit single McArthur Park, he sounded like he was recording from a hospital bed.

Thanks Bob great news. It will be nice to have the solo version from Dallas instead of the duet with Luciano. Joe

I see it's being released the same day as the Meadowlands concert...which leads me to think (hope) that we may see even more FS releases that day!

"All My Tomorrows" - Frank's "genius" on display

This is great news about a great album! As George points out, the "mix" of moods makes this album very special. The exuberance and joy of "Hallelujah, I Love Her So," "Watch What Happens," and "For Once In My Life" are beautifully "tempered" by the poignancy and wistful "Yesterday," "Didn't We?" & "All My Tomorrows." "My Way" is defiant, confident, proud, and 100 other emotions.

FS' "genius" is wonderfully shown in "All My Tomorrows." To me, this version is a world apart from the Capitol single -- a totally different song; the same sensation I get when I listen to the two treatments of "Day In-Day Out." It's just amazing what he could do with the same song at a different tempo!

"My Way" -- another reason to look forward to May!

WOW!!! Thanks for the info, Nancy and Bob!

My Way was one of the first Reprise CDs that I purchased and from the first time I listen to it, I knew it was a special album. Frank was in fine voice and it has a nice flow from song to song. Didn't We And All My Tomorrows are my favorites. I'm glad it will be available on CD once again.

Yeah, that would be wonderful! Just like last year, it looks like May will be a great month for Sinatra fans!

I noticed that this is another Concord release. Are they the new label that's going to be releasing Sinatra CDs?

Bob, I assume that this edition will not use Lee Herschberg's previous digital transfers. Is there any information concerning the updated remastering?

Re: "Stevie Wonder’s classic, “For Once In My Life"....
This song was written by Ron Miller and Orlando Murden.
Stevie of course had the biggest hit with it. For years, I also thought that he wrote it.

The best is yet to come

As much as I'm excited for us converts, I see this as a great opportunity for a new generation of fans who have tired of the current, unimaginative music scene and instead of looking forward they start to (re) discover the past.
Hey! That's what happened to me 10 years ago!
