I have to say I think this album contains some of Sinatra's best singing ever, words just can't describe just how perfect his vocals are on this one. Truly one of the finest albums ever produced, it certainly is Nice 'N' Easy! |

I love this album. In the beggining of 2000, I got the UK LP with the drawing on the cover and, later, I bought the CD with the original cover and the additional tracks.
To me, it's perhaps one of the greatest Sinatra albums ever done. It's all beautiful and my favorite tracks are: "Nice 'n' Easy", "That Old Feeling" and "You Go To My Head".

Welcome to the forum, Felipe! I agree, "Nice 'N' Easy" is a fantastic album. To me, it's one of the most romantic FS albums and every song is done beautifully. From the Nelson Riddle arrangements to the tender, gentle vocals, it's perfect.

Some of Frank's finest singing I think, coupled with Only the Lonely and All Alone its an example of just how it can be done.

Truly, the greatest "Make-Out" album ever! -- an opinion that is totally subjective, and based on my "real-life experience." "Heavenly," "Faithfully," & "Johnny's Mood" are excellent, but NICE 'N" EASY is THE album!

From a female perspective, Stanley, I would have to agree with you. This album just teems with "sexy lines" (but that's another thread altogether...

My first few Sinatra albums were swingers. This was the first ballad album I bought, and it was a great introduction to a Sinatra I didn't know very well. What a treat!

This album is in my Top Three, for sure. When Sinatra sings "You Go To My Head" and spins that line, "...spinning 'round in my brain like the bubbles in a glass of champagne", I feel absolutely intoxicated.
He knew how to invoke all of the meaning behind a song!

The "wonder" of listening to Frank is that he was always evolving, always growing, always "stretching" &"experimenting," if you will, although we really wouldn't be totally aware of this, even though we'd be hearing the end result in a recording. Just listen to three of the glorious songs on "Nice 'N' Easy -- "Nevertheless," "How Deep Is The Ocean?" and "You Go To My End." Try to find, and listen to the lovely versions he did on Columbia -- beautiful, sonorous, gentle, elegant. Then listen to how he & Nelson treats each of those beauties on Nice 'N' Easy -- the pauses; the richness of the vocal "instrument"; the reflection; the vocal maturity; the inflection; obviously, the result of an additional ten to fifteen years of life's experiences.
The evolution of Frank Sinatra as an Artist was something that we, as listeners, can hear, up to a certain point. He truly never stopped learning and evolving -- there are excellent reasons why we're always discussing "She Shot Me Down," and when I do a presentation on THAT album I start off by describing each recording as a three-act drama, which is MY highest compliment. And remember that more than forty years had passed between The James Era and "She Shot Me Down!" There's no other recording artist, who can compare to this overall evolutionary process. It's remarkable! But it's "Nice 'n' Easy that we're discussing, and, as I've tried to point out, listen to both versions of those three recordings. The experience is "jaw-dropping!" In other words, "Nice 'n'Easy is a great album, and each of the songs is a great portrait in an amazing museum! Shakespeare and Caravaggio would have been very proud of Frank & Nelson! Enough pedantry for the day! Just listen, and be amazed!

Okay, "Only the Lonely" is Frank's best, so, hmmm, "Nice & Easy" or "Wee Small Hours?"
This is his second best album, which means it's also in the top five greatest albums ever list. Yup, that's how amazing it is. I LOVE the way Frank sings "Nice & Easy" I really really love it. This album is perfect. Every single song is flawless. Too hard too pick a favorite. I dare never skip a track. It's utterly addictive and it's great for you. It always picks me up and makes me feel better. It's my medicine.

give me an early June mornin' sunshine, a cup of tea and Nice 'n' Easy playing. I could write one of those "My Perfect Sunday" articles for a newspaper colour supplement.
