Here's a neat little promo CD I found. It's just taped celebrity tributes to Frank for his 80th birthday. I think that it's pretty cool for it's historical significance. An interesting mix of celebrities...

Great choice. My favorite Christmas song of all, particularly that version.

I was browsing through this and saw the now 5 year old references to the Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas release. I have a UK copy so it definitely wasn't a promo here but has the same greenish cover that Martin described years ago and is identical to the middle picture on page 3 but without the price stamp. Below is a pic of the back cover, not my best upload quality Im afraid.

Ah I should have browsed on, its a different coloured front cover there though, light blue rather than green; shall I delete the picture to save space and amend the messages accordingly?
Don't think I've ever played my LP of it, much of the material apart from the one Frank song isnt of huge interest personally.

Well the one difference is the reference to the UK and being distributed by PYE but youd need a magnifying glass and the eyesight of a 16 year old to notice! But that can be my excuse for posting the image.
I have very few promo's of any sort, barring a couple of singles and recent CD's I think as I wasn't around when the singles and albums came out my only source for them now is online record dealers who in the main think, wrongly, that because a very run of the mill album has "promotional copy" on it it is somehow extremely rare and worthy of a huge price hike. Of course that is true in some cases but many of these had hundreds or even more copies sent worldwide, every now and again though such as the disc with It's Time For You on it theyre well worth looking out for.

In response to a PM inquiry about a rare promo 45, this is a link to another small thread of related interest:

LET IT SNOW: A Holiday Musical Collection 2010

Following up on the success of Letters to Santa (above) during the 2009 holiday season, Concord Music Group is once again partnering with the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to release their second holiday-themed collection, Let It Snow, on November 1, 2010. This exclusive 11-track CD includes holiday favorites by various artists. The single Frank Sinatra track is the 1957 TV version of "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," first released last year on Concord's Christmas with Sinatra and Friends.

PRO 1390/1391
I Feel A Song Comin’ On-A Tribute To Jimmy McHugh From Capitol Records
Sinatra’s recordings of “I Couldn’t Sleep A Wink Last Night’ and “Where Are You” on this special 12” LP
Dean, thanks for that great list, from which I quoted but one item, the McHugh album.

On Sunday after church, I went to the local antique mall and browsed through the $1 LPs, which were on sale for half-off, and picked this up, in mint shape (in terms of the vinyl itself) and with one tear on the cover, where a sticker had been attached:

Sundays in the Mall with Matt...

My goodness man, an incredible find, and at 50 cents!

Wow, great shots of the album. Thanks.

After this I may have to re-evalute my thoughts on the word "antiquing"...maybe.

Peace, Dean

Matt, I'm checking with people but I don't know.

[added] We think the original release was 1960-1961 but still checking.

Late 1959 / Early 1960

P.S. That estimate is based on the catalog no. in comparison to other dated promo LPs. Marino & Furfero's price guide specifies it as 1960.
