Dropped the other shoe!!!!

I have this CD in my car and have been listening to it daily for about a month, and I don't get tired of listening. Full blast...
I just love the upbeat sounds and the wonderful choice of songs!
Sinatra seems to be in great voice and a wonderful playful mood.
Some of my favorites "You are nobody till somebody loves you" the upbeat "In the Still of the Night" and of course "Night and Day.
The intruduction in french by the great Charles Aznovaur sounds great! I just wish I knew what he was saying...Does anyone know??::Elba

Elba I also love Charles' accent

Hi Elba,

I got the cd today so I will translate the introduction for you.( There should be accents on many of the words but my comp is too old for that )

I do not want to present Frank Sinatra to you as I know that you know him perfectly. Your presence alone proves that. On the other hand he does not know you very, very well.

Also contrary to how things are normally done if you allow me rather than presenting Frank Sinatra to you, I would like to present you to Frank Sinatra.

Frank Sinatra Paris belongs to you.

Melissa

Much like Live In Australia I never really thought about getting this concert but again I'm happy I finally decided to order it.

Frank is in real good voice and is enjoying himself in Paris. The song selection consists mostly of upbeat songs with a few ballads and saloon songs. Making this concert fairly upbeat which is nice to hear again and again.

My favorite songs are: Imagination, I've Got You Under My Skin, I Get A Kick Out Of You, You're Nobody Till Somebody Loves You. And Chicago, Ol' Man River (which sounds really good) and Nancy.

This has to be the best live performance I have heard from Frank, and apparently, I am not the only one with this opinion.

Frank sounds so energetic here, going from song to song and doing it effortlessly. A couple times his voice fails him, he makes brief jokes about it ("I gotta stop sleeping in the park" "Don't eat the onion soup before you have to sing, it's murder") and picks up where he left off and goes on. But otherwise, his voice sounds great here.

His phrasing is excellent here, in which he takes to a new level in his live performances. I love how he phrases "evening summer breeze..." in Moonlight in Vermont.

I especially enjoy his 'Frankenmoments' in any live performance and especially here when he jokes about Al Viola about being an octopus...the audience didn't get it so he said "What happen to those jokes." And when he ends I Love Paris with "...she's waiting at room 39 at the Lancaster Hotel." I like his sense of humor.

April In Paris and Old Man River are right up there with his studio versions, if not better. Though the comment he makes at the end of Old Man River is enough to make you want to slap him and hug him at the same time.

This live album shows that Frank could sound great no matter who was backing him, be it a big band, a piano, or a sextet such as this.

A highly recommend listen!

This is really my favorite live album. MUCH better than Sinatra at the Sands if you ask me. He's in great voice, with great songs. I could only ask for better sound quality. But even as it is, awesome.

I agree. Though I love Frank, and I love Quincy, and I love Basie, the Sands album somehow doesn't match the greatness of the 1962 recording. And to think this was done in Paris makes me feel even better...

I heard this CD a few days ago and it's one of Frank's best concerts on CD. I really like the versions of Ol' Man River and I Love Paris.

This is a great cd to listen to when you're feeling "funky". I am glad that I got this disc a few months ago. Sad to find out that "All The Way" and some monolugue material was edited out.

Perhaps with the new aggangement between Frank Sinatra Enterprises and Warner's we may get a remastered unedited version of this concert (crossed fingers).

Maybe Nancy will do something in regards to this if we kindly implore her to. It can't hurt, right?

Peace,

J-P.

First, let me add to the many statements here that Paris '62 might be his best live album. It's just so wonderful on every level, it's hard to beat.

I think some of that is his performence (great mix,as the liner notes say, besteen 'sinatra' and 'frank') but just as important is the 'stripped down' nature of the band. (I do concede that sometimes the 'onion soup' comments get in the way, but it is a live show, after all.. tho i'd love to hear a 'non-onion soup' version from this tour of 'they can't take that away from me'.

Carrying that to its longical conclusion, and as I've said on another thread, I would love to see an album of just frank aind a piano or guitar.. (start with the 'duo' versions of 'one for my baby' from the capitol 3 cd set , and 'send in the clowns', 'its sunday' and 'empty tables' from the reprise 4 cd set, add 'night and day' from this set, etc..)

Here's a question for everyone--

Some folks have mentioned that theres a concert he did on June 1st of the same year, 1962, (london, i think?) that also is commercially available? is that still commercially available? I'd love to hear it!

The June 1st concert in London at Royal Festival Hall was released in 2000 but only in Brazil... it's very hard to find a copy of the CD.
