In a book once, I saw a 1957 photo of Nancy and her father for the TV show, their eyes so bright. They both looked so fulfilled by their endeavor. Mind you this is a decade prior to the recording of "Something Stupid".
Maybe I can locate it if I go through the bookshelves some day.

Thanks for a wonderful picture.
The one I was referring to was ten years prior. Nevertheless, your picture demonstrates this same principle.

There is a beautiful picture of Nancy on the 1957 TV show set with Frank.
Its beauty, to me, is in that Frank still looks young, and Nancy looks as scrumptious as cake. Do you know of a valid source of this exquisite and (far as I know) black and white shot? |

John, This is a similar photo taken from Tina Sinatra's book, My Father's Daughter (photo #31: ABC Photo Archives). It's from the same photo shoot as the Havers pic. Caption reads: "Nancy does an F.S. show, 1954" (but I think Havers' November 1957 date is the correct one).

Great Picture, Bob!!
As John of Philly say, it's interesting to see FS and Nancy both as "adults" though Nancy was only 16 or 17 depending on what month the shot was taken! A terrific picture!

For comparison, here's a portion of the photo which John described (cropped to avoid page fold). Caption reads: "LIKE FATHER... Nancy pictured with her father at rehearsals for Frank's TV show in November 1957." (Photo credit: Bettmann/Corbis)

<< Nancy looks as scrumptious as cake. >>
I'm surprised to see that Nancy, at such a tender age, was dyeing her hair brunette.

Bob, thanks so much!
They are both beautiful, the pictures as well as their subjects.
Nancy glows, and Frank still has his impish slender boyishness. I really love these two shots. No generation gap here.

<< Do you know of a valid source of this exquisite and (far as I know) black and white shot? >>
John, the official photograph may be purchased here: Frank Sinatra with Daughter Nancy at Piano. Note that the official photo date is February 11, 1958. Here's the original caption: 2/11/1958-Hollywood, CA: Frank Sinatra and the apple of his eye, daughter Nancy, 17, are pictured together at one of their rehearsals for the "Frank Sinatra Show." Sinatra keeps his kids busy, with all three of them appearing at one time or another. [Added:] Not to be overly obsessive about the date of that photo, but... Note that the outfit Nancy is wearing (cardigan, blouse, and skirt) is identical to that in the photo with her two girlfriends (the "Tri-Tones") when they performed on The Frank Sinatra Show. See the entry and associated photo for November 1, 1957, in Nancy's book or online. Another concurrent photo may be seen here: Frank's Singers (with Bill Miller at the piano). |

The very same day. The heavy make-up is what we had to wear for black and white television. Those pics were taken on the set.

Nancy: Did you look at the caption in that Getty Images photo link (Frank's Singers)? Don't tell me your friend Jane Ross is really the actress Bea Arthur?!? No amount of heavy make-up could be that good.

According to IMDB, Jane Ross, who was on The Frank Sinatra Show in November, 1957, passed away in 1985.
She had appeared in a few movies, mostly in uncredited roles.

Thanks for the bump, Marty
I just read this thread for the first time, and it's interesting how one thread can lead to another one that is totally unrelated...
<< In a book once, I saw a 1957 photo of Nancy and her father for the TV show, their eyes so bright. >> We discussed Philly John's favorite Nancy photo not very long ago over in the Frank Sinatra room; see: Sinatra Classic Images. There you will find two different photos of Nancy and her dad (plus a link to one of Nancy's girlfriends, The Tri-Tones), from the date of Episode 3 of The Frank Sinatra Show, November 1, 1957. [Edit:] John's "bright eyes" picture and the related posts have now been merged into this thread. See above and here. |

A Note
spurred on somewhat by Bob's recent posts elsewhere, I have decided to contact the National Television Archives in the US regards this important series of the Frank Sinatra Show, hopefully with a view to providing the most accurate listings available for the full series (or as near as can be). In the mean time this particular thread's content as regards programme listings should be regarded as slightly suspect until further information becomes available. I'll get back to you.
