Although best remembered for the routines that put Bing Frank & Dean together, I think the real gem of this show is Frank's nightclub selection with Bill Miller on piano. Just One Of Those Things, Angel Eyes and The Lady Is A Tramp are excellent readings.

Jimmy Durante's cameo appearance was supposedly meant to promote an upcoming film biography of his life that Frank Sinatra was going to produce.

Thanks for bumping this, Marty. I saw this show years ago on TV.
This episode is my favorite of Frank's Timex shows. Before, I had only heard Bing's version of Wrap Your Troubles In Dreams. Dean made that song a favorite of mine. The selections of music were great, and I just love the trios Frank, Bing and Dean did. It's so much fun. "I'd rather face a dozen battalions... than Italians..." and in the second, I like the upbeat sound of Old Man River. I also love how the upbeat version of Day In, Day Out sounds. Just a terrific show! |

Timex Show
Was this the show where Frank sang, "Come Spend an Afternoon With Me ?" I remember a special around 1958 when he sang this tune and I have never heard it since...Maybe Nancy can shed some light on this...

Small addition/correction for your entry posting and the thread headline, Marty: The show was broadcast on October 13, 1959 (not 1958).

Bernhard, forgive me for contradicting you but this show was aired on October 19, 1959, not the 13th.
What you may be confusing it with, I think, is the October 13, 1957 date of The Edsel Show with Bing & FS.

Marty, are these shows on DVD or video -- or have you all seen these on televison (repeats of course). I am only familiar with the occasional shows on BET, and I've not seen this one.
I wanna see it

They are not yet "officially" released.
Some performances from each are on "Vintage Duets". |

Certainly, Nancy - thanks for noticing that! (Probably was indeed the Edsel Show what got me mixed up) Bernhard. |

Bumping for Bernhard's mention of this performance of "Day In–Day Out" in the Frank's Recordings thread for the LP, Sinatra Like Never Before.
Note also that—as mentioned in Bernhard's post and earlier in this thread by Nancy—the thread title and first two postings contain an incorrect date. Perhaps Marty might make the correction to October 19, 1959. |

For me, that "Together" sequence from that show with Frank Bing and Dean is sensational and it appears in good quality on the fairly recent Classic Duets DVD as introduced by the Sinatra Family. I love the lyrics and the delivery and its great to see all three at their fun best. I love it!
