Frank Sinatra Timex Show/Here's To The Ladies (1960)
Aired February 15, 1960 Guests: Eleanor Roosevelt, Lena Horne, Juliet Prowse, Mary Costa, Barbara Heller Famous for the appearance of Eleanor Roosevelt. If someone could help with a programme rundown, i'd appreciate assistance. I know that Frank Sinatra sang "I've Got You Under My Skin", "Lonely Town" and "Here's To The Ladies" as well as singing a Harold Arlen medley with Lena Horne. (added : a complete rundown can be found a couple of posts below courtesy of Dr V.)

Mrs. Roosevelt talks with Frank Sinatra about her hopes for the world and recites the lyrics of the song High Hopes. (I'd love to see this, sounds quite surreal)

Hope this helps, Marty (you can also copy it into your starting post, if so I'll then delete this message here). A truly outstanding show with one highlight after another. My personal highlight is the great medley with Lena Horne.

Not officially, except for a portion of the duet medley with Lena Horne which appears on Sinatra: The Classic Duets. Since the tape (or kinescope?) exists, we can only hope it may be released in the future. |

Priceless information. Thanks, once again, to Marty for the research, and setting up the threads.
I saw bits of this show last week, and had hoped it would repeat again this week (they very occasionally do play the same ones over and over) but today's episode was Elvis and Nancy, which I've seen many times. I wanted to catch it, in its entirety. Charming interview with our Lady Roosevelt. |

Hope you will catch this programme in its entirety very soon, Patti, it's really fabulous (while I was excited to deduct from your post that it still *does* indeed get a screening now and then on US television, that's good to know - no chance for that over here in Europe I'm afraid).
Given the participation of the great Lena Horne, it's also, in a sense of Sinatra/American Songbook music, much more a "meeting of giants" than the Presley show could ever be. A real thrill. Bernhard. |

A bump of this thread in memory of Lena Horne who featured in The Timex Special "Here's To The Ladies" performing, among other numbers, a medley of Harold Arlen compositions with Frank, a segment which can be found on the Sinatra : Classic Duets DVD.

Interesting varied "bumps" to this thread. The Eleanor interview was wonderful, saw it in a PBS documentary.

THE First Lady of First Ladies!
Messrs Van Heusen & Cahn should have given a third of their best song Oscar to Mrs. R! If academy voters were stuck on which song to get their vote, The First Lady's wonderful reciitation of the lyrics clinched the Academy Award!
Every composer & lyricist should have such a 'song plugger!'
