Many people say that the future of Blu Ray may be doubtfull, but I think I would feel better holding a disc in my hand rather than depending on a hard drive that could crash. But that's just me.

I agree, (not worried about the crashing, just buy a spare to backup) it is always nicer to have the package, Im more into that for music than films though. The 2 new Frank DVD reissues - Sinatra and Friends and Concert for the Americas do have much improved 5.1 sound, and to me the Sinatra and Friends picture looks better than my original DVD, but Blu Ray would show up much worse flaws in the original and without a very expensive reprocessing, when these DVD's will only sell in small numbers, just doesn't seem economically viable.

Saw this again, for the first time in many years, just last night, and I personally rate it as the best of the FS/Annhauser-Busch specials. Frank + Ella + Jobim + Riddle + Bill Miller, and all of them look like they're having a great time. This is one show where all the elements came together to produce an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. You could see Frank sitting there, utterly mesmerized, during two of Ella's solo turns, and that's admiration at its most basic.

Frank + Ella

I wonder if "they" (whoever "they" is or are)" still bury time capsules? If so, I hope someone had the good sense to include Frank's "Ol' Man River," and Ella's "Body and Soul" from this show. Perfect examples of what makes an ICON an ICON!

Frank and Ella

Frank and Ella singing together at the end of the show is popular culture at its greatest.
Amazing!

Frank and Ella

Agreed, Frank and Ella at the end is as good as it gets. Love the reprise of the song at the end.

Amazing!
Having those two together is music at it's finest! "The Man & His Music" TV Specials is music's finest hour . . . a tour-de-force . . . a masterpiece! There will NEVER be another great musical hour like this again.

You are all so right. As I said above, for me this is the finest musical hour in the history of TV

Both Frank and Ella were at the top of their game for this show.

THE STAMP OF APPROVAL - TRIPLE RATED

I think this episode is my favorite show of all those included in the DVD box from last year. The final duet is about as good as music gets, as far as I'm concerned.

When Frank and Ella were singing the duets earlier in the show, it was as if they were singing to their audience that night, both in the studio and across the country. When they sang the final selections of songs, I personally felt like they were singing for everyone who might come across that tape in years and decades that followed. Two artists at the top of their games, singing and giving great enjoyment to people who weren't yet born, and who may not be born for decades after that show originally aired.

Special indeed.

Best of the Best

The Sinatra tv shows of the mid-60's were among the best shows ever on tv, and this show is the best of the best!

This is, IMO, very easy...With this show we are privileged (IMO) to see the greatest female interpreter and the greatest male interpreter of The Great American Song Book. PERIOD. I will hear no arguments to the contrary!!
