Not sure if you still check this thread......but have you ever eaten at Joe's of Westlake, just outside of SF? I grew up in San Francisco and the surrounding Bay Area, and that was always our family favorite. The Italian side of our family practically lives there. Great place if you have never tried it.

We had
a delightful dinner at the Harbor Beach Marriott with Terri, Rhodalee, Bill and Laraine and their son. I had wonderful clam chowder, plus a wonderful baked Tuna.

My favorite in New Orleans is The Upperline on Upperline Street just off Prytania. Dick & Jenny's (where Elba and Rhodalee had dinner with us) is also very good. Muriels in the Quarter is also very good, along with Antoine's, Bella Luna, Galatoires, and Emerils.
Almost all have reopened and many are back to their full menus, though the creativity shown in the Katrina Menus has resulted in some very fine dishes. Cudos to those establishments that have reopened and come up with meals that will melt your heart. |

Katz's Deli established 1888
The best tasting most un-health food you could eat.
one of the oldest and most Famous Kosher Deli's in New York City. Located on the lower east side of Manhattan. Several movies were filmed in Katz's Deli Contract on Cherry Street (Sinatra) When Harry met Sally (Billy Crystal) Donnie Brasco (Johnny Deep) I ate a kosher hot dog , a potato knish french fries and a Br Brown's Diet Black Cherry soda.

restaurant review
you can tell we come from the same area map...i have eaten at most of the places you mentioned.
peter luegers is great...they also have another location on nothern blvd in manhassett but its not as great as the original (something to do with the ovens). do you know the real story behind peter lugars?...there is a factory across the street called ben forman and sons...they make brass giftware. Many yrs ago peter lueger a big gambler almost lost the resturant but old ben forman bought it and kept peter and everyone else on because he didnt want his fav lunch screwed up. as the yrs went by the brass giftware business has gone down a great deal ...(alot of it due to imports as opposed to domestic), so now the resturant he bought is a bigger business than the orginal brass business he was in. vinny b. |

restaurant review
i love this thread...sorry i found it so late in the game...
i will tell you the story of the best place i ever went to (no small feat considering i am 48). It was in milford, pa and it was called mark antonios restaurante. It was a mansion that was turned into a restaurant and it was really beautiful. you had several rooms to choose from and a veranda that went around the entire front so you could have your dessert outside. also a piano on wheels that made the rounds of the veranda. Often people would sing and it was really a great time. huge floor to ceiling windows so you could enjoy the landscape even indoors. a game type room with a fireplace and chess sets while you were waiting to be seated (complete with hors 'd' ovres and coctails). i was friendly with the owner and i know that the decor was all first rate...the drapes were from paris and the chairs we sat on cost $500.00 each. (and i am going back 26 yrs.) there were no menues...the waiter would come out and tell you everything in categories...veal, chicken, seafood...as i recall they would pretty much make you whatever you wanted whichever way you preferred it. All i can tell you is i ate there several times and it was always great. I am sure it was expensive but i really cant say for certain cause i never paid the bill and there was no menue to see pricing on. (i was working with some very generous people at the time). unfortunately the place burned down to the ground many yrs ago and was insufficently insured so it ended with that fire. i am so sorry that none of you will ever get to see it cause i will never forget it. vinny b. |

The Lighthouse
in Fort Myers is where we dined with Sylvia & Bob. Of course, Pete had steak, and I had salmon. I think we shared a dessert. A very enjoyable evening was had by all.

Sinatra Frequented Restaurants
Which are some of the restuarants (NYC/California especially) that Mr. Sinatra frequented. Some must be gone now. Some must have photos on the wall of their favorite customers. I have heard some mentioned but I am not familiar with New York (been to N.J.) and am eager for any information and history. Thanks.
