TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD FILM SCORE

There are very few really great film scores. The Elmer Bernstein score for "To Kill A Mockingbird" is definitely one of them. I am very fortunate to have the original vinyl LP on AVA A/AS 20 of ths masterpiece. Bernstein has recorded this score several times since the original film was released in 1962, but no recording surpasses his original, which is as complete as it can be. Other versions tend to be truncated.

Melissa Manchester

Right now I'm listening to the NEW Melissa Manchester CD. It is very good and I'm enjoying hearing her after a ten year absence from recording.

Sinatra and Strings. It's my new favorite, however that is always subject to change. That's why I've never been able to answer those posts that ask what is your favorite FS CD...

Last night I drove the "good" car to work playing Swing Along With Me in the cd player on the way.
During the eveing my wife came by and swapped me for the "crappy" car (don't ask), and when I got in at the end of the night, I was delighted find Songs for Swingin' Lovers still in the tape deck from the last time I drove it.

Wow! You even got your wife to convert? I have been trying to get my girlfriend to listen to more Frank, but when I am in her car, she usually has Journey, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, et... in the CD player!

I have been listening to Neil Young's "Tonight's the night".

Today I have been listening to a band that I just read about called The Drive-By Truckers. The album is "Southern Rock Opera". If you like Skynyrd, you would also like The D-BT.

Jackie Gleason

this morning, it's "the romantic moods of jackie gleason" -- a capitol ultra lounge compilation

this stuff is just magic, although better suited to a romantic evening than a busy morning

In "Rubber Soul"-The Beatles and not the CD either but the good old Mono LP 12 inch LP, with all it's hisses and crackles.

I have their album Decoration day, it's quite good. Have you heard Kings of Leon?

A MAN AFTER MY OWN HEART

I have both "Rubber Soul" and "Revolver" also in vintage Parlophone vinyl. My copies happen to be listed as stereo. All I know is they both sound fantastic. I had the foresight to buy all of the Beatles album titles either in Japanese red vinyl mono pressings (the earlier releases, from "Please Please Me" to "Beatles for Sale") or Parlophone pressings (covering the period from "Rubber Soul" to "Abbey Road"). I do not regret any selection. It would be difficult to assemble such a Beatles collection today, without spending substantially more.

Thanks, Mersey Rat, for another inspired round of choices within one thread.

Ella Fitzgerald

Right now I am eating breakfast and listening to Ella Swings Gently With Nelson.

I recommend this cd to everyone!

Ella is such a superb vocalist and musician!

And Nelson Riddle's lush arrangements are gorgeous!
