Stanley does that all the time and it drives me nuts.

"Coraline". A Fantastic and scary cartoon. Good for Haloween. I like Coraline's strong personality.

Just got the Seventh and Final Season of The Mary Tyler Moore Show. So, I'm going to put that on later.

That's one of my favorite shows. The Seventh Season is a good one!

It's been many years but Fox finally released the last season. Now the complete show is on DVD.

Over the weekend, I saw "Whatever Happened to Baby Jane" (again) and "Mad Love" ( for the first time). I think I read something Marty wrote about it, but I can't find it. I thought about you, Marty, and understood a little more what you see in the old horror movies. Peter Lorie was amazing (What a face) as was the woman who played Yvonne. Thanks for the tip.

An old black and white film called The Blue Lamp. It was made in the 50s in the area where I grew up.

Wonderful milestone of British cinema Bren.

Basil Dearden's direction is so modern (fast enough to keep the plot threads fresh but with enough character development time...an under-rated directorial genius of the Ealing system, and the tightly choreographed dogtrack sequence is equal to anything the American film noir can offer) for a film that's now 60 years old, doesn't play it twee or pull its punches either, and an amazing early performance from a very young Dirk Bogarde as the cowardly trigger happy thug cornered by Dixon of Dock Green.

Dirk Bogard was so handsome. What makes it all the more interesting to me is that you can see my nan's house in the film

Beauty and The Beast. My 10-year-old has not seen it yet. We still have the original DVD from the first time around. I'm hoping to get a Blu-Ray player for Hannukah next month so I can get the Blu-Ray editions of this film, Toy Story 3, and Despicable Me.
We were at Best Buy the other night, and they had a 62" top of the line 1080 Plasma set playing Avatar through a top of the line Blu-Ray player. It looked so real and life-like - much better than on a big movie screen.

Darren McGavin whisting around Chicago in his crumpled suit and crushed hat as the investigative reporter Kolchack in The Night Stalker, which has to be one of the most influential TV series of the last 40 years.

Wonderful tongue in cheek thrillers that mix the hard boiled sensibilty of Chandler-esque noir dialogue with the fantasy elements of good old fashioned horror films. What a shame there are only twenty of these hour long treats to enjoy.

Hired Wife 1940 ~ Rosalind Russell, Brian Aherne, Robert Benchley and Virginia Bruce. One of the smartest of the 1940s comedies directed by William A. Seiter, one of the Hollywood's finest.

She marries her boss to get him out of a tax jam, then he wants a divorce but she doesn't.

A thank you to Marty for Fahrenheit 451. I richly enjoyed it. For some reason, I was unable to PM Marty.

Just a snippit of information, Brian Aherne used to have a house near to where I lived in London for when he stayed in the UK and one of my neighbours used to be his housekeeper. One time Brian let James Stewart use the house when he was over here and Midge (my neighbour) said what a lovely man he was and he used to cook dinner every night for his wife
