Flowers On The Wall

Nancy's version is on her first LP - Boots, from 1966. The song is right for a heartbroken little girl, not three fat guys singing barbershop.

Also - According to Nancy her own self:

... behind my Ja - pan plan.

actually IS a weird reference to Japan, as if she has some sneaky plan to make Lee look silly in Jackson.

Hey Josh

How about "WE CAN MAKE IT" from the "Nancy" LP.

And yes, the name thing IS confusing but sorry, I was here first...LOL, only kidding.

Perhaps the fact that I do post in blue will be of help to others who may confuse the postings.

We have got to keep these guys clear since they have all of these songs floating in their heads, so what do I do? Add another one!

Here goes: Someday I will find a new love
But for you there will be no love

Danny

Pony keg add note

Hey Chetter - A pony keg is a small steel barrel full of beer with a pressure pump attached on top. You pump up the pressure, and then partygoers can come and tap out a mug of suds.

Evidently you were never in a college frat during a party.

One of her most beautiful songs

This is a wonderful, sad, sweet song from 1969's Nancy:

But you'll not erase her image
With all your one-night Valentines.

Maybe her finest Reprise album

Hey Danny - I am so taken with all the songs on Nancy and the way her lovely voice just makes them perfect - I think it is my favorite of the original Reprise albums.

Memories is one of the most beautiful songs she's ever recorded, and God Knows I Love You just melts your heart.

Heads Up, Mike

I have to agree that the NANCY album is one of the best. It was a departure for Nancy from the type of material she had been doing to that point. It shows her range much better than previous albums and her voice is in tip top shape.

MEMORIES is indeed a beautiful song, written by Mac Davis if I recall correctly.

Isn't it fantastic that we have more to look forward to from Nancy?

I just can't wait until the release of the Nancy and Lee CD. I know I'm going to love it!

<< but nobody will ever get those other two >>

Mike,

If you know them, then please say.
Then post the next one.

Thanks.

OK - They are:

Lea's song quote is from Think Of Me, a pre-Boots bubblegummer which, I believe, only came out on a 45 and not even an LP.

Ace's quote is from The Hungry Years, which will appear on the new Nancy & Lee CD when it is released.

Hold on whilst I go dig out another easy one.

Hi Mike

"Think Of Me" WAS released on an LP.
Actually two versions of the song.
One was in Italian.

Check the album covers thread

Album Covers

Think Of Me is the title of the album released only in South Africa in 1961.
I would presume this was Nancy's very first album.
Five years before BOOTS came out.

Sticking My Foot in My Mouth

OK, maybe I'm going overboard here, but I don't think Nancy would want song titles mentioned that aren't released as of yet.

The info on the new Nancy and Lee CD has been kept underwraps in chat sessions, etc., so I don't think we should mention any lyrics or titles for now.

Don't you think this is what is best?

Only asking.

Mike said:
Ace's quote is from The Hungry Years

That wasn't really a fair question for me to pose, since only a few lucky people have heard this one. But it's my dot sig, and I thought somebody might be curious where that came from.

The Hungry Years is one of the top two or three on this new album. It ranks right up there with Flowers as a powerful song with gripping lyrics.

I know! I know!

Mike, that one's "Good Time Girl"

Try this one:

Count me in from one to two
But nothing more or less will do
Just me and you

I'll give you all an early hint since I think no one will get this song for awhile. This song was released on one of Nancy's 1998 CDs.

Mike, thanks

... for the info on pony keg.

Now I am expecting Ace to tell us some stories about Mike and pony kegs.

Chetter

Now I am expecting Ace to tell us some stories about Mike and pony kegs.

I hate to disappoint you, but I don't have any beer stories about Mike. We like Black Dog on occasion, but it's always civilized.

However, if you want some Grand Marnier stories, I can oblige!

Ace,

I am confident that the gentlemanly Mike in LA has never been in a state of inebriation. That puts my question to you in the realm of the purely hypothetical. Just supposing that he had one too many, based on your personal knowledge of him, would he be the sort of drunk who:

(1) gets all weepy over might-have-beens (for instance: "If only I had met Nancy back in 1970...")

or

(2) gets belligerent (for instance: "HEY! Any low-life scum here wanna say somethin' nasty about my Nancy...")

All of the above

Hey Chetter - I am both (1) and (2) when I am stone-cold sober. I cry that I didn't seek out Nancy in 1966. And I'll deck anybody who is unkind about her in my presence.

If I have a flaming hooker or two, I get talkative and funny.

I know, I know. Impossible to picture me funny.

SONG LYRICS

One of my favourites has always been:

"I put my finger in his mind's eye,
And I've given him a reason now to cry."

Also:

"Kissed the sun, touched the moon"

Hi Nigels

The first one is I've Been Down So Long It Looks Like Up To Me and the second one is Lady Bird.

Here's one for you guys!

"He could even move a mountain, if he really wanted to"
