Nancy in San Francisco on December 3rd

Nancy Sinatra is scheduled to perform for the HELP IS ON THE WAY benefit in SF on December 3rd. Others performing include:
Roslyn Kind (Barbara Streisand's very talented sister)
Karen Mason (Broadway Diva)
Wesla Whitfield (Cabaret Legend)
Jane Oliver (simply amazing)
Anthony Federov and LeToya London (American Idol)

Nancy, any idea how many songs you'll be performing?

With a show as big as this one you could probably guess...

From my calendar:

HELP IS ON THE WAY FOR THE HOLIDAYS VIII
HERBST THEATRE, SAN FRANCISCO, CA
Join Nancy and a host of other talented performers, to raise awareness and funds for Bay area AIDS service agencies. The Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation embraces programs for children and women living with HIV, as well as educational programs worldwide. This annual celebration is packed with fun and surprises, plus a silent auction. There are 3 price levels for the show, featuring Gala tickets, which include a dessert & champagne party with the cast.

Correct spelling of her name is Jane Olivor (and she is an amazing singer). See my brief mention of her, along with additional links, in the Johnny Mathis 50th Recording Anniversary thread.

(Not to take anything away from the other amazing singers at this benefit concert. )

It's a nice room...

I appeared on that stage myself, just about fifty years ago.

Wait till you hear her. Amazing!! I think Barbra appreciates her keeping a low profile.

Good for you, Jared! I checked out the different levels of tickets - some four-digit. No question this will receive much coverage in Hollywood. I doubt that I can make it, because even if I can clear my schedule to fly out, by the time I reach that epiphony, the seats will most likely be sold out.

Thanks for representing us in the audience.

The eighth edition of the Richmond/Ermet AIDS Foundation's Help is on the Way for the Holidays start you off with a song on Sunday, December 3, 8 p.m. at the Herbst Theatre.

An unintentional precursor to the women's movement, Nancy Sinatra built a solid recording career as the strong, sexy girl who definitely wanted a man, but didn't need one to feel complete. The lady is quite familiar with San Francisco, often staying at the Fairmont with father Frank, and later performing at venues like Bimbo's 365 Club. "It's a great walking city, and I like the sidewalk entertainers you see now and then." And there's great riding, too, as she discovered as a celebrity grand marshal for the annual Pride parade a few years ago. "That was great fun!"

Sinatra's favorite holiday memory has her working in Las Vegas with her then-husband. "We were booked for Christmas and New Year's, and the family was in Palm Springs for the holidays. Dad said he'd send a plane after our second show to bring us to them for Christmas Eve and the next day before returning to work. So there we were flying from Vegas to Palm Springs at 2 a.m. At the very small airport, the door opened to a burst of mariachi music, which I thought was really strange, and there on the tarmac were my mom and dad and the rest of the family singing 'Jingle Bells' with the mariachi band! Another wonderful memory was when my brother was kidnapped for three days and was returned to us in time for Christmas. That was a very special holiday."

Today, Sinatra divides her time between performing, maintaining the family archives and charitable efforts. While you probably won't hear her signature "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" during this show, she has decided that one pair of her boots are made for giving. She is donating them to the silent auction that will accompany the pre-show and intermission festivities at the gala.

Yes, Jared. So hoping you were accessible to the second level.

Gregory's sentiment stirs my imagination; once it was such a wonderful place, then came changes. It would have been nice to have been in the Bay Area for this event, even if the rest of said stay was spent in Larkspur or Boulder Creek.

This is such a great cause and a much needed one.

You are such a lovely person Nancy to lend your name to these sort of things.

God bless you.

There are 56 photos from the event and you can purchase copies from Shutterfly

There are some great shots of Nancy with both celebrities and guests. Also a fun shot of her on stage with a group of Santas. Anyone know what song she sang?

Thanks for the link, Gerry. Very cute Santa shot. I have no idea what Nancy sang at the benefit, all of my requests for that information have not been answered.
