Nancy's Recordings...

Hi
To my knowledge Nancy had two number one hits. THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKIN' and SOMETHING STUPID recorded with father Frank. I believe Nancy hit the charts 22 times in the US and many more abroad.

Well...
There are at least four hundred and maybe five hundred recorded songs, a few of which made the Top Ten and several of which made the Top Forty. Others were lower on the Top One-Hundred charts. There were twenty-three chart records and quite a few more of what they call "bubbling under" meaning they were in the Top Two Hundred. Many of my recordings were album cuts that were rarely played on the radio - many from the Great American Song Book, and also some unreleased tracks that very few people have heard. I'm pretty proud of these accomplishments because there aren't many women in music who can claim this sort of success. (If I can pat myself on the back a bit!)

Ditto! Even one chart record is an accomplishment! You're a seasoned veteran. <<There were twenty-three chart records>> A number some can only dream of having! And there are surely more to come, right?

A HUGE pat on the back!
I hope we will eventually get to hear more of these songs. Nancy you have worked with several labels. Which were you the most/least pleased with? Just curious.

Amazing Catalogue....
I admit to being stupid regarding the depth and breadth of Nancy's recording history; being a guy who has focused mainly on her dad for forty years now, I foolishly never took the time to explore much beyond "Boots" and "Sugartown" and "Somethin' Stupid" (which I'm listening to a lot lately, I love the harmonies) I'm kinda ocd and my next mania will be to buy a bunch of NS cd's (especially some with the Great American Songbook)and I will then be able to offer my "props" to our able administrator more effectively. Jeez, even 2 #1's is a career for a lot of singers, let alone 23 top 100's!!! Kudos, Nancy!

23 songs (including one with Mel Tillis) on the top 100 - not the top 40...

Don't forget the numerous appearances on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart as well as their Country singles and album chart.

NANCY'S CHART HITS IN ZIMBABWE
I lived in Zimbabwe (in Africa) as a child and teenager, and if memory serves me correctly, the following songs hit the top 20 at least:
Like I Do Boots (#1 for 10 continuous weeks...a record that is still unbroken as far as I know. Frank was also #1 for 8 weeks with "Strangers In The Night") How Does That Grab You? Sand Jackson Something Stupid (#1) Ladybird You Only Live Twice Sugar Town (#1) Did You Ever? Not all of Nancy's singles were released there, so this was pretty good going. Of her albums, I remember Boots was extremely popular, and How Does That Grab You?, Nancy In London, Country My Way, & Sugar (there was major controversy about the cover), all sold very well. Nancy & Lee became a real collector's item, and Nancy & Lee Again, and Mel & Nancy sold well. Hope this shows something of Nancy's international appeal!!

Hi Nigel
Oh how I wish there were enough fans like you in SA so some nice promoter would invite me there for a show or two. I've always wanted to see your neck of the woods.

Nancy in London
Hi other countries.
Stand in line please. England has had a sample of Nancy live... now watch the sparks fly! "Nancy by night or Nancy by day is a sight for sore eyes so they say. She rocks and she rolls and she swings as she strolls down the Isles for us all to say "Hey"!!!. Nancy's in town and she won't let you down it's packed houses wherever she goes, so I'm telling you you better get in that queue they start from way outer town".

VISIT TO VANCOUVER
Nancy,
Thanks for your response to my posting about your hits in Zimbabwe!! As you can see, I am now resident near Vancouver in Canada, and we would LOVE to see you up here (I wasn't able to get to see you in Seattle recently). I would love to see you travel to Africa for a concert series too!!

Nancy on Billboard Charts
Hallo Nancy, Ricahrd and all!
I have a comment to Nancy`s Chart positions on Billboard. Nancy had two songs on THE "BUBBLING UNDER" charts. # SAND at pos. * 107 was on the bubbling under charts for three weeks (10/28/67) # DOWN FROM DOVER * 120 (was on the bubbling under charts for two weeks) (2/19/72) Dates are when the record entered the charts.
