Hmm ... fine material indeed and we know now how much 'top of the chart potential' was here, but .... 'folk-rock'??
'City' is a terrific song, too, I never knew it was the flip. |

Any Possibility of this being released on Mfsl or similar
I was hoping that this album may one day be subject to the MFSL special treatment, the sound quality of this album is stunning anyway ( the bass is deep and rich ), An Mfsl release would no doubt Show the original beauty of the recordings there could be so much more to come from what is already a classic document of the swinging 60s.

Who played the bass on this album, I guess Nancy is the one who knows. as the bass is amazing, as theres no mention of any of the players on the sleeve notes, listening to it now, sounds superb. You can't beat the vinyl, although I don't know if there were any differences in the pressings of this in various countries.
mines Reprise R-6202, do you still have the clothes you wore on the front cover nancy? im sure they are quite iconic as is the cover. Probably stored away somewhere. |

Two bassists. Carol Kay on electric and Chuck Berghofer on upright. Clothes are long gone. Who knew?

you never know there may be some hip young trendsetter walking around in them now, my mum kept all hers from the 60s even the dreaded Hippy Coat!!. but my mum never gives anything away - typical Yorkshire person I guess.

I was just in the Supermarket. They were playing Nancy's Boots. This man came over to me and said, doesn't she have a nice voice. I said, yes and I've met her personally. He was in awe.

Pretty cool story, Rhodalee. Lightning's Girl played one day while I was looking for shirts! Pretty hard to concentrate on something as mundane as selecting shirt sizes and styles with that one.

A marvelous review of "Boots" is here, and the author reminds us how difficult it is for the son or daughter of a famous performer to make it on their own. Here's an excerpt:

Timeless : BOOTS !!
Here in Italy "BOOTS" is the song that begins the football league, unfortunately not in the version of Nancy, but an Italian version of a band.
It's having so much success as it was then! I said that the original version is of Nancy Sinatra and they replied: Nancy Sinatra? WOW that's why this song is so beautiful !

Boots was the number one song in the US this week in 1966. What So Long, Babe started, Boots kicked into high gear. "Nancy Nice Lady" was officially retired and the world was introduced to Nasty Jones.
