Came across this WLS chart (a Chicago, Illinois radio station) from Aprill 22, 1966 on another Forum earlier tonight and saw "How Does That Grab You Darlin'" on it.

With Boots and Nancy in London, it's one of my best.
Except the albums with Lee that I love so much ... Summer Wine is one of the best song I ever heard ![]() And for this album : Time and Let it be me are my favorites ... but I love the others too

I was listening to How Does That Grab You? on the way home from work tonight. Some of Nancy's best ballads can be found on this album. I was particularly drawn to "Time" tonight, as I kept repeating it. It is a wonderful song and it describes how I feel most of the time.
If you don't have this album -- buy it! If you have it, but haven't listened to it in a while -- pull it out and give it a spin!

Thanks Richard. You'll be happy to know that we have remastered it for iTunes. It's mono now instead of that stupid fake stereo we used in the '60s.
The albums are going up slowly. iTunes has them all but they don't post them all at once.,

Fake stereo? You mean it wasn't recorded in stereo format?

It's actually kinda funny. When I listen to Bang Bang in my car it sounds like you are in the passenger seat. I keep looking just to make sure someone isn't there.

Phil there was no stereo then so we put the voice on one side of the two-track and the band on the other.
If you were hearing this album in a store, you'd probably hear the vocal in the men's department and the band in the shoe department, depending on where the speakers were located. In your car you can fade out the vocal or the band by featuring the left or the right. When we went from two-track to three-track tape, we put the vocals in the middle.

Nancy, I'm glad you had them straighten out the sound.
I like to listen to my iPod at work in the slow morning hours expecially after a rough night. I have my work headset earpiece in one ear and my iPod earpiece in the other. Sometimes I hear you, sometimes I hear the band, sometimes all I hear are la las.

Were the albums after Nancy In London three-track? The voice and the band seem to be even on those. |

I remember in the olden days albums came in two versions, mono and stereo. Stereo cost a buck more. Even though albums were only $3 and $4, for me that extra dollar was sometimes tough to come by so all of my early Nancy albums are mono until "Country My Way" which only came in stereo. It was my first stereo album and I remember how frustrated I was trying to come up with the extra dollar.

"in your car you can fade out the vocal"
Why on earth would anyone do THAT?

Call Me
Last night I heard Petula Clark's version of "Call Me" for the first time in a long long time. I'd forgotten what it was like. What a difference the singer and arranger can make in a song. Petula's is bouncy, jarring and repetitive. Nice for aerobics but not very convincing. Then I listened again to Nancy's version. Smooth, sexy, amazing. Full of feeling. Hard to believe that they are singing the same song.
