Nice work, Andrew! Just a FYI... The Play Me or Trade Me/Where Would I Be single was issued and charted in 1982.

Andrew...terrific thread. Can't decide if I like Nancy more with dark hair or blond. She looks great in both!!

Thanks, Bill, Richard, and Sylvia. Richard: I just want to check with you before doing any editing. The label on the 45 indicates "1981," as does the Goldmine Standard Catalog Of American Records. If the record was released at the end of 1981, it may not have charted until 1982. I was listing release dates, not chart dates.

Hi Andrew,
Play Me or Trade Me went to number 43 on the Billboard charts. It's debut week was 12/26/81 so it would have peaked in 1982. It is listed as a double sided hit.(Courtesy of Joel Whitburn)

Thanks, Mike. I found that it had peaked at #43 on the Billboard Country Singles Chart, but I didn't know the chart entry date. Your information confirms that it was issued in 1981, as stated on the label.

It's not so much the sweater that's interesting.
Who ARE those people under those hairdos? ![]()

1981 is correct. I was sleepy and had a little saki last night and was going on memory (which is normally fairly decent haha). One of my "Play Me or Trade Me" 45's has 1981 on one side and 1982 on the other (side B I think). That's obviously a misprint.

I heard it on the radio driving home from Maine the other day. That song knocks me out every time I listen to it!

Andrew, where did this CD GLORY ROAD/DOLLY come from ? I wasn't aware anything would be released like this. Just asking, 'cause I try to have EVERYTHING Nancy does.

Dan, Nancy previously posted this image. I believe it is not intended for a CD single, but for a digital 45. The scheduled release date is September 15, 2009.

In honor of today's release of the Glory Road/Dolly And Hawkeye digital 45: From the August 21, 1971 issue of Billboard, here is a quote and the ad promoting Nancy's original release of the "Glory Road" vinyl 45.
As featured in the magazine's Special Merit Spotlight ("Spotlighting new singles deserving special attention of programmers and dealers."): "The powerful Neil Diamond ballad serves as strong material for the stylist and it has to hit Top 40 and MOR with impact."
