Just a note that Original Season, Bob Gaudio, who wrote most of their hits celebrates his 68th birthday tomorrow. Happy Birthday, Bob. You've come a long way fgrom "Short Shorts." (1958). May this be the best one yet, and may next year be even better. To qoute a couple of other "Jersey Boys," (The Chairman and the Count), "The Best Is Yet to Come."

Lynn and I saw Frankie last night at the Borgata (Atlantic City). Terrific show!! He still hits the high ones. Talented back up singers and great musicians. He's a class act. We got his new CD. Enjoyed it on the way home. Listened to Nancy on Sirius on the way down and Frankie on the way home. Very pleasurable round trip.

Regards,

Jayeff

Went to the August Wilson Theatre tonight to see Jersey Boys.

WONDERFUL. Don't know why it took me so long to attend. I'd watch it all over again.

Happy Birthday, Frankie Valli

Forgot to post it yesterday, when Frankie Valli, lead singer of the Four Seasons, still paying tribute to Frank in his appearances and one of the main characters in Jersey Boys, celebrated his 77th yesterday. Still maintains a full concert schedule and still going strong.
Although a day late, Happy Birthday, Big Guy!!

Joe, we must be on the same wavelength!

With all my running around, I forgot to wish a Happy (Belated) 77th Birthday -- Lucky, Lucky -- to Frankie Valli, one of Rock & Roll's most distinctive voices, and one of its greatest stars! "Swearing To G-d"

Today is Joe Long's 70th Birthday. Joe is Nick Massi's replacement and played a vast role in defining the role of bass player-singer for that group. During live performances he also played straight man for Tommy DeVito in many of their routines. Happy Birthday, Joe, and many, many more.

Don't know how far this one's going to go, but there is a lot of Buzz at the Four Seasons sites about a CD in tribute to Frank that features the background-singing Seasons. Would be interesting to see what comes of this one, especially since Frankie Valli, lead singer, idolizes Frank.

You will not be disappointed. The Jersey Boys touring show, as well as the shows from Las Vegas, London and Down Under (think it recently closed in Sydney to move to New Zealand) are all just as good as the production on Broadway. The singers who do the Frankie Valli part have to attend a "Frankie Valli Boot Camp" where they learn the gestures, moves and accent of Frankie Valli so they can be true to the character. The "camp" is run by Frankie Valli and Bob Gaudio.

Today, I received notice that Frankie Valli is coming to Kalamazoo next year. Has anyone seen him in concert lately? I saw him with The Four Seasons about 35 years ago and I'm trying to decide if I should order tickets to see him again after all these years.

Caught him a couple of years ago in the Borgata in AC. It's a different show from the original Seasons in the 60s and the subsequent lineups up til 10 years ago. The Seasons are "Dancing Seasons" now. He hasn't lost anything on his voice. The harmonies are still as tight as they've ever been, dating back to the original 4 Seasons. Frankie apparently is enjoying what he's doing now, and still has a great interaction with the audience. He gets a little funny, but not to the lengths that the 4 Seasons did. He performs a few cuts from "Romancing the 60s" and his intro to 60s music is laugh out loud funny, especially his parody on Rap Music. The only way you know he's spoofing rap is that in his parody, he gets the math right. You won't be disappointed.

This is making the rounds on some Seasons sites, Frankie Valli doing Frank Sinatra's "All or Nothing at All." Very haunting and a fitting tribute to one's mentor.

That's lovely, Joe. The Four Seasons' recording of I've Got You Under My Skin was actually my first exposure to that wonderful FS classic when I was very young. The same aunt who took me to see them in concert years ago played their albums all the time.

Just thinking about the Newbeats, "Bread and Butter", "Run, Baby, Run".
No doubt they were inspired by Frankie & the Seaons.

Interestingly enough, we have tickets to the Springfield Symphony for March 2nd, when the guest artists will be the four original (and very talented) stars of "Jersey Boys!"

They (Originals who played Bob, Tommy and Nick Massi in Jersey Boys) are still together, touring as the Midtown Men. They also have a 60s CD out which includes Seasons material and other artists. "California Dreaming" will blow your mind.
