Herb Alpert
Anyone know what happened to the number one instrumentalist of the rock era? P.S.: Favorite Alpert album: "S.R.O.," from 1967.

Bob,
when I was in scool I often played "The lonely bull" in the jukebox. Because of Alpert I knew that Tijuana was a town on the California/Mexico border. A few years ago I tried to buy in three different record stores in Tijuana a CD of him. None of the salesgirls ever heard of the name Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass. That's life. And I used to think he is a native of this town, but he was born in LA. Today I think he is painting and making sculptures. Apparently he is working on digitalizing and releasing some of his music again. |

I love his music and have also wondered what he is doing. His website doesn't give any information in that regard.

Herb Alpert
When my young Sailor husband and I use to live in San Diego, we use to go to Tijuana to this "hole in the wall club" and Herb and his band would be playing. This was long before he because a big recording star. we occasionaly also use to hear him on San Diego radio station.
Eventually he became very popular. He was great. I don't know what he is doing now but I hope something still in the recording business. I have all his albums My favorite album by him "Whipped Cream and other Delights. Don't you just love that cover? HA: This Gals in love with you
