Nick, I love your stories. I wish I'd had the chance to see Jerry perform live.

Thanks Dina, and David B., too! David, you're correct also about Jerry's sex appeal to females. I used to love, back in the 1960's, when he'd refer to himself as, "Tall, handsome, Jewish Movie Star." All in good fun, I assure you.

In 1962, there was a 90 day "gap," from the time that Jack Paar left, and Johnny Carson took over "The Tonight Show," in October of that year. It was a summer filled with "guest hosts," mostly comedians. Jerry did, what I often refer to as "the best three weeks of his life!" There was such madcap antics, sheer comedic genius, and one of the "all time," best periods of entertainment in late night history. It was his brilliance, during this period, that led to Jerry being given his own, 2 hour, Saturday night, prime time, live program on the ABC network. Jerry's fans (of which I am one), loved it. His harshest critics had a field day, and the show was short lived. Two hours is a tremendous amount of time to fill each week, while still staying fresh, entertaining, and brilliant, and a real challenge for anyone.

As a side note, Jerry's is also (or was years ago), a camera buff. He always had the latest in photographic equipment. He also loved to sail.

Dina, thanks for the kind words. If anyone hasn't figured it out by now, I've been "show business oriented," for my entire life, not just my adult life. I wanted to be a performer early on. I did get to fullfil a small portion of my dream when I was younger, working as a singer in smaller clubs, bars, and the like, but never made it to the "big time." What that experience left me with, however, was the burning desire to see every star performer (both large & small), work "live." My life's history (in that department) reads as a show busines who's who! Our collection of ticket stubs, concert programs, and our experiences of meeting quite a few artists who were gracious enough to share a few minutes of their time to speak with us, often "startle" our visitors whenever they ask to see them. They come from all genres, from pop to folk, from rock to opera.

I've been fortunate enough to have some friends in show business circles, that have helped me out with ringside seats in most of the major nightclubs, theaters, and other venues throughout the country. They've even been kind enough to arrange some "meet & greets" with some pretty big names. Pat and I have a saying, "If we haven't seen them yet, you can be sure that we'll see them perform eventually! I love to entertain, and be entertained, as most performers do. And I don't plan to stop. Still waiting to see Nancy Sinatra work, though. It simply hasn't worked out yet. Have seen the other "performing Sinatras" on multiple occasions, but not our Nancy. Maybe we can encourage her to come back out "on the road" for a time. I'd be the first to buy tickets!

Glad that you enjoy hearing about my "nights out and after dark" experiences. There sure are many of them and I truly appreciate your reference to those stories. My wife would say, "Geez, don't encourage him!" Thanks!

This may be old, but I believe he lives on his boat in the San Diego area. I hope he's able to get out on the water once in awhile these days.

JERRY LEWIS ON THE ROCKFORD BENEFIT: He called me one evening and said, "What are you doing, Jew?" And I said, "Nothing in particular, Wop." He said, "Meet me tomorrow morning and bring your tools." We flew to Rockford, got to this coliseum seating 20,000. He's hired a 30-piece orchestra. We did the show, brought in about $100,000 and flew back to Los Angeles around four in the morning. This performance was for one fireman who had died, and his family. He said, "Thanks, you're a good friend." And I said, "You're a good man, Frank."
This is the Jerry we all know and love. Dad said he was one of the few he could count on to help somebody out.

Nancy, thank you !

Labor Day, Betty would comfy herself up on her couch or bed waiting to make her annual pledge for Jerry's kids..

I thought about Jerry and MDA and what Betty must be thinking..... I believe, Heaven is for the good guys...They all are watching all of you.. What you do and why you do what you do......

We love you Jerry Lewis !

I believe that, prior to Labor Day, Jerry Lewis went on record as saying that, after the Telethon was over, he would make a statement as to why he and MDA have severed ties.

Without trying to sound like a tabloid television commentator, I absolutely love Jerry, missed him dearly on this years' telecast, and would really like to know what happened to their relationship. Has anyone heard anything? I possibly missed his announcement. We pray that Jerry is well - healthy and happy at this time.

God Bless Jerry Lewis forever all the smile,laughter.... He brought to all of us all around the world,
Thank you very much !!!!!
If I am correct tonight Jerry
appeared at the famous 92Y in Manhattan.

I got the information from the 92Y official website from this link:
http://www.92y.org/Uptown/Event/Jerr...Adult_Lectures

If I may this is what it say at the website:

Comedian Richard Belzer interviews Jerry Lewis, paying tribute to his long career following a film screening of a new documentary, Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis. Join The Friars Club and 92Y to celebrate Jerry Lewis’ 86th birthday!

Kings aren’t born; they’re made. Method to the Madness of Jerry Lewis takes a contemporary look at a true living legend through in-depth and candid interviews with Jerry Lewis, never-before-seen film footage and contributions from some of Hollywood’s biggest names: Alec Baldwin, Chevy Chase, Eddie Murphy, Carl Reiner, Quentin Tarantino and more. Director/producer Gregg Barson is the only filmmaker to be granted unlimited behind-the-scenes access to Jerry Lewis, resulting in an unfiltered reflection on an 80-year career.

If somebody did attend his conference at the 92Y have a wonderful time and please tell us your thoughts!
Thanks in advance!!!

(I just like to say as well I also appreciate his official web site that
I am sure everyone know here one of Jerry son Chris Lewis is in charge great web site I am just a bit surprise that tonight appearance was not mentioned

http://www.jerrylewiscomedy.com/index.htm

(I just would like to say if I may couple of thoughts that I am pretty sure almost everyone knows already but I guess it is always fell good to talk about it if I may I thank everyone kindly for reading my couple of thoughts.Jerry Lewis as we all know is fantastic and his style of comedy did remind me some time to time of the British comedian Norman Wisdom I think in some ways was similar, slapstick, physical comedy style in my humble opinion.
I also like to add that I love that Jerry father Danny Lewis was a Master of Ceremonies and vaudeville entertainer and that his Mother Rachel was a piano player for a radio station and also that his son Gary Lewis Drummer,Singer is a wonderful musician I love his music with his band Gary Lewis and the playboys I saw him performing at the Ed Sullivan show
I am sure everybody knows his web site http://www.garylewisandtheplayboys.com/
I read that recently Garry and Ricci Martin(Dean son)did act together on several stage together as tribute for their fathers Martin and Lewis duo.
I love all of this great families )
